About ADO
The Agricultural Development Organization – ADO – was established in 1993 and had worked throughout the Somaliland regions, implementing emergency, recovery, and long-term rural development projects, including agriculture, environment, and climate change adaptation, resilient livelihood building for the poor agro-pastoralists, watershed, and irrigation management, nutrition, community innovations, and entrepreneurship support. Besides, the ADO had empowered rural women through the needs-based small business projects and Self-Help-Group initiatives. Working directly with community associations, the ADO had supported more than 776,000 households, including IDPs, returnees, farmers, and women living throughout the Somaliland regions.
The ADO has its Head Office in Hargeisa with the regional branch offices in Burao, Borama, and Erigavo of Togdheer, Awdal, and Sanaag regions. Besides, the ADO is currently expanding its programs and presence in the Somali Ethiopia Region, South-central, and Southern Somalia. ADO is an active member of the main local umbrella groups, namely, NAGAAD, SOLPAF, and SONSEF. As well as the ADO has strong networks with academic institutions in Europe and Africa and collaborates with diverse institutions in the development and agriculture research sectors. The partners of the ADO include but are not limited to the European Union, UNHCR, UNDP, WFP, UNEP, Oxfam, Care International, ISF Finland, NDF Norway, NORAD, UK AID, WHH Germany, Somaliland Development Fund (SDF), KNH Germany, and LUKE of Natural Resource Institute of Finland.
However, in partnership with the Development Fund of Norway (DF). However, the ADO will implement Building Local Resilience for Adaptation to Climate Change-BRAC project which is a long-term project (2021-2025). The project is aims to increase climate resilience and well-being of rural communities of Gatiitaley, Xidhxidh and Dabagunbur villages under Odwayne district. BRAC project targets vulnerable rural households those have been categorized in to smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and women headed households, and child headed households, youth, elders and disabled and marginalized groups and women business group. In immediate term, the project expects to reach these outputs; improve of nutrition and care practices of rural households, increase of crop diversity for smallholder farmers and food production and enhancement the access to sustainably natural resource management. Rural youth, women and marginalized groups will be improved and also the project will increase the capacity of grassroots organizations to advocate for good government services and legal frameworks.
ADO will construct new earth dam that improve farm productivity and profitability, help farmers adapt to climate change’s negative effects and mitigate climate change effects. In a situation where most of the communities have no access to domestic, livestock water and irrigation water for agricultural production and there are no dams, almost all the communities identified the need to look into water development issues. Communities were keen to access water predominantly for household consumption and irrigation of vegetables and cash crops. Water for irrigation would improve livelihoods and nutrition through expanded vegetable production that would be consumed and traded, therefore, ADO will construct new earth dam in Daba-gumbuur village that improve farm productivity and profitability.
The specific objective for the construction of dam:
- To provide water for irrigation, livestock and domestic purposes
- To increase food production
- To increase the employment and household income opportunities of project beneficiaries.

Tender closing date is June 28th, 2023 at 1:30pm East Africa Time. All completed tender should be summited in sealed envelope to be bring Hargeisa office. The envelope should indicate the tittle of tender notice, but have no other details related to the bid.
