Purpose of the position
This position is a Civil Service position in the Office of the Auditor General, Responsible for planning and conducting assigned audits. Assists the Audit Director in managing workflow of the office of Auditor General as well as assisting in developing a framework for performing the audit risk assessment and audit plan, maintaining audit tracking system, and workflow processes compliant with Supreme Audit Standards.
Responsibilities & Duties
Responsibilities of the External Audit Officer include, but are not limited to:
Carrying out audit examinations of accounting records, documenting them in audit working papers.
Completing assigned audit programs as assigned by the manager responsible for the audit.
Reporting issues identified to the manager responsible for the audit. Identifying and recording audit issues for inclusion in draft audit report.
Communicating with the auditee on a day-to-day basis in a polite and professional manner.
Participating fully in training activities as required.
Assess the internal control system for preventing, detecting, and responding to fraud
Research changes in compliance requirements
Carrying out any other task assigned by the Audit Manager.
This Job Description may update from time to time by the Auditor General or Employing Authority.
Minimum Qualification
The External Audit Officer must be well qualified and experienced, with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business Administration/Auditing or any other related field, plus 2years professional experience in auditing/accounting.
Competencies
Knowledge of professional accounting and auditing standards
Ability to perform audits in accordance with International Standard Supreme Audit Institutions
Ability to work independently and in a group.
Ability to thoroughly document audit work in accordance with professional auditing standards. This includes documentation of work performed, conclusions reached, audit issues found, and recommendations.
Basic knowledge of fraud investigation techniques.
The ability to handle sensitive or delicate situations confidentially and in a professional manner.
An understanding of audit planning and workflow management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
