Position: Finance Coordinator
Reports to: Area Manager
Supervision of: Finance officers, Finance assistants
Duty station: Jigjiga with travel to the fields

- Role and responsibilities
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of financial matters for the Jigjiga Area Office.
Generic responsibilities
- Implement NRC’s financial systems and procedures at area level
- Ensure adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor requirements
- Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the area
- Ensure that the accounting, monitoring and reporting are according to procedures
- Train and develop the finance team
- Prepare and submit reports and analysis as required
- Ensure proper filing of all financial documents
- Support project staff in financial matters
- Supervise the Finance officers and assistants
Specific responsibilities
- Responsible for Finance responsibilities of Project Cycle Management in Area, including supporting in Grant start-up, review and Closure meetings;
- Host spending meetings, share on a weekly basis budget vs actual with Area Management Team
- Coordinate, compile and review spending plans, and review progress and share up-to-date tracking
- With the support of the CC Coordinators, lead the budget development process for new funding opportunities with closely coordination of the CC Specialists and Grant Unit.
- Work closely with Area Support Manager/Coordinator as well as the CO Support team to ensure the payments per contractual agreement are done in a timely manner;
- Ensure capacity building of all technical finance staff;
- Additional tasks assigned by supervisor.
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- Experience from working as a Finance Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context
- MA/BA in Accounting or other related field
- At least five years’ experience working in finance
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):
- Knowledge of the context, culture and language of Somali region
- Experience with budget development
- Experience with Emergency Response
- Experience with PCM tools
- Understanding and experience of protracted crisis contexts
