Established in 2011 as a UK based non-profit, the Foundation has since made a strategic shift to directly design and implement its own programmes to ensure greater engagement with communities, better results and increased accountability. The Foundation has carried out numerous projects in East Africa, with a focus on Ethiopia and Somaliland. The key themes for the philanthropic side of the Foundation are education, health, water and agriculture. At the end of 2019, the Foundation started its Pharo Ventures franchise to prioritise sectors where the Foundation believes a real impact can be made by establishing self- sustaining businesses, which focus on job creation.
Headquartered in London, the Foundation has an operational Head Office in Nairobi, Kenya with country offices in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa and Assosa), Somaliland (Hargeisa) and Rwanda (Kigali) with further expansion plans in East Africa.
Position Summary
We are looking for energetic, driven and hands-on Health and Community Engagement Assistant to assist the Community Engagement Officer in all areas of health, education and community engagement work

Reports to: Community Engagement Officer
Job Location: Hargeisa, Somaliland
Contract Type: Temporary (6 months)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Help educate parents and help them be familiar with the ECE program.
Help observe parents’ support of their children’s learning and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
Provide parents with information and resources that help them understand early childhood education and
care.
Assist with continuous coaching and mentoring for parents to improve parental support to children.
Communicate with parents regarding sensitive issues regarding their child (i.e. hygiene, nutrition, etc.). Connecting parents with community groups and organizations.
Support children’s registration and ensure it is accomplished as per the standard.
Help ensure vital information about children is collected and properly and safely documented.
Help inputting essential program data to the Foundation’s ECE program Information Management System.
Help to communicate with teachers regarding non-academic issues (policies, registrations, etc.).
Help regularly monitor the performance of the ECE Centre cleaners. Any other duties assigned by the Community Engagement Officer.
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Public Health or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience working with community engagement or similar programs;
Experience working with families of children in low income communities supporting their health and wellness preferred.
Certification in CPR and First Aid
Experience working in an educational setting.
Proficiency in Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential
situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Self-motivated and directed.

Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong customer-service orientation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritise and perform under pressure as needed. Must be dependable, able to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
Salary and Benefits
The salary and benefits package is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Medical insurance is provided in accordance with The Pharo Foundation Health policy
