Hotel Manager Job Description Template:

We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Hotel Manager to oversee our hotel operations. In this position, you will direct the day-to-day operations and activities at your allocated hotel position. Your duties will include managing personnel, collecting payments, monitoring budgets, and evaluating hotel performance.

To excel in this role, you must be approachable and detailed-oriented with proven hospitality or management work experience. Our ideal candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Manage personnel including receptionists, security guards, domestic staff and office employees.
  • Monitor employee performance and conduct regular evaluations to help improve customer service and make sure the hotel is running well and guests are happy.
  • Collect payments and maintain records of budgets, funds, and expenses.
  • Welcome and register guests once they arrive.
  • Resolve issues regarding hotel services, amenities, and policies.
  • Organize activities and assign responsibilities to employees to ensure productivity.
  • Create and apply a marketing strategy to promote the hotel’s services and amenities.
  • Prepare, Keeping and recording staff contracts and staff performance.
  • Manage hotel database system and train with the staff
  • Coordinate with external parties including suppliers, travel agencies, and business partners.
  • Partake in financial activities including establishing room rates, setting budgets, and assigning funds to departments.
  • Coordinate front-office and back-office activities and resolve any problems
  • Inspect the grounds, public areas and guest rooms for appearance and cleanliness
  • ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and licensing laws
  • recruiting, training and supervising staff


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in hotel management or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of hotel management best practices and data entry software.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and computer accounting
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with great attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English and Somali. Knowledge of other language is an added advantage
