Title:            Internship – Finance Assistant

Location:   Hargeisa- Somaliland

Deadline:   14 July.2021

 

Start of Contract & Duration:  1 July 2021 November 30,2021 (6 months).

Purpose:

The Internship Finance Assistant will assist in all financial matters, supporting field payments and daily update of the cash books and the physical cash count.

Key Responsibilities of Internship:

  • Maintenance and follow up of cash advances;
  • Make payments, including preparing payment vouchers ensuring necessary authorization;
  • Manage and account for the petty cash of the office;
  • Custody of check books and cash checks.
  • Maintain cashbook (i.e. hard copy) and accounts records on daily basis;
  • Ensure all the necessary documentation is collected, checked and attached to payment vouchers
  • Assist finance officer in preparing monthly funds request in consultation with program, procurement and logistics team
  • Collect cash transfers made by CD and deal with any other business with the bank
  • Support the country director in maintenance of the monthly accounts;
  • Carry out monthly salary payments
  • Produce personal bills for all personal use of telephone
  • Ensure telephone and electricity bills are paid in time every month
  • Make field visits to project sites to cover during leaves and support staffs as necessary
  • Fill in for the DRC Finance Officer, while s/he is on leave or mission
  • Undertake any other duties that may be requested by the Country, to facilitate the smooth running of the Finance Section in CDG.
  • Responsible for scanning financial documents and will KEEP data base.
  • Assist area Country Director on completion and clearance of missing documents, cash book updates.

Reporting:

The Finance Assistant will report to the Director.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • Diploma in Accounting or Business administration or equivalent certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in similar position with an international organization preferably
  • Basic accounting trainings/experience
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Somali
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated and efficient
  • Very honest and trustworthy person.

General

Complementing the center’s work with the legislative branch, Community police dialogues, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding, CDG provides technical and institutional support to the offices and head of commissions in several Institutions. Centre programs seek to help those offices be more effective in developing policies, communicating with the media and with citizens, and implementing programs and activities that deliver the benefits of democracy to their citizens.
