About the Program

DT Global, in cooperation with SORDI and Swiss TPH, implements the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)-funded Private Sector Partnerships in Health (PSPH) programme in Somalia and Somaliland. PSPH has been designed to follow a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach with the general objective of providing Somali citizens, including the most disadvantaged groups, with better access to quality and affordable health services, based on two targeted outcomes:

•  Pro-poor healthcare financing mechanisms are developed, tested, and assessed for sustainability and scalability; and
•  Organized private service providers deliver quality and inclusive health services across the country, including areas of difficult access.

About the Role

DT Global is seeking expressions of interest from qualified candidates for the role of Intervention Prospecting Manager to join DT Global’s Private Sector Partnerships in Health (PSPH) programme in Somalia and Somaliland.

The key responsibilities of the role are to identify, map, develop relationships with, screen, and recommend engagement with several potential new market interventions with private sector partners outside of the main cities where SORDI maintains PSPH project offices (Hargeisa and Mogadishu), following all established PSPH operating procedures. Further, the Intervention Prospecting Manager shall assist in maintaining client relationships, following up on action plans, and collecting data from existing intervention partners outside of the main cities.

The role is intended to be a temporary position ending at the end of Phase 1 on 31st July 2025. It may be continued or modified beyond that date, dependent on availability of additional funding for the programme beyond the current budget ceiling

About You

Qualifications

Required:

•  Tertiary degree from a recognized institution in a related field such as Medicine, Business, Management, or Economics, bachelor’s degree minimum, master’s degree or higher desired
•  A deep understanding of how the private sector operates in Somalia and Somaliland, the Somali business environment, and Somali business culture
•  Dedication to building better access to quality and affordable healthcare for Somalia’s underserved
•  Full bilingual fluency in both Somali and English languages; ability to report orally and write professional-quality reports in English (all project meetings and reports are in English while partner meetings are primarily conducted in Somali)
•  Internet literacy and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•  Permission to work in Somalia and/or Somaliland (Somali citizen, resident, or work permit holder).
•  Ability and willingness to travel freely within the territory assigned.
•  Must adhere to the DT Global Conflict of Interest policy and all other contractually required policies and sign a statement thereto.

Highly desired:

•  Experience working in the private (for-profit/commercial) healthcare sector in Somalia/Somaliland at a management level
•  Prior knowledge of the Market Systems Development (MSD) approach
•  Knowledge of the primary stakeholders in the Somali health sector, both public and private, and the interrelationships between them
•  Knowledge of both demand-side healthcare financing/health insurance as well as healthcare service delivery through the private sector
•  A network of contacts within the Somali health sector.

Helpful:

•  Prior experience working with SDC.

•  Excellent communication and persuasive skills, skilled presenter
•  Well organized, time-sensitive, able to meet deadlines – sometimes under pressure, reports without being chased by the supervisor
•  Motivated, self-starter, able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
•  At the same time, team oriented
•  Results-oriented, focused on outcomes and impact for beneficiaries rather than activities
•  Professional demeanour, able to meet with diverse stakeholders from mass market beneficiaries to entrepreneurs, corporate CEOs, and government officials.
•  Committed to the success of the individual intervention partners and the PSPH project.
