ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Somali-Sudanese Specialized Hospital is a General Hospital, funded by Somali business elites to meet the needs of Somali people in health care services. it has been providing health care services in Somalia since 2014.

The headquarter of the hospital is at Hodan district, whereby the hospital runs four branches in the other districts in Mogadishu.

The hospital covered almost a huge gap in the health care sector in Somalia, that many Somali citizens needed to go abroad for health care needs.

The hospital absorbs and employs both qualified Somalis and expats from different nationalities.

Job Description

Job title: Laundry Supervisor.

Duty station: SSSH Headquarter.

Expected starting date: MAY 2021.

Status: Permanent

Appointment Period: Full-time

Duties and Responsibilities

Laundry Supervisor oversees all the activities in the laundry that may include, but are not limited to:

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in receiving, marking, washing, and ironing clothes or linen in the laundry:

Inspects articles to determine methods of specific cleaning requirements.

Inspects finished laundered articles to ensure conformance to standards.

Observes the operation of machines and equipment to detect possible malfunctions.

Performs other duties as described under.

Oversee in getting filled linen carts to designated areas.

Ensure laundry supplies are ordered and controlled in line with hospital policy.

Minimize waste within all areas of laundry.

Always ensure a clean and tidy linen room and report to the management if any items have been damaged (linen as well as uniforms).

Report heading of general services in case any uniforms need to be discarded or replenished.

Ensure that linen and uniforms are safely stored and recorded.

Ensure that all uniforms are ready for special events as well as for any seasonal events.

Ensure proper loading and unloading of dryers and setting the proper temperature for different items that require drying.

Receive records and oversee sorting of clean uniforms from laundry and arrange them properly on the shelves and racks.

Any linen which is torn is placed separately and returned to the Linen room for repair.

Train, develop, and appraise the laundry team.

Performs other duties as assigned and able to carry out any other reasonable task set by the hospital management

Maintain a clean and organized facility.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or other related fields.

Computer literacy in using Ms office along with experience in using inventory management.

Basic knowledge of laundry appliance

Good understanding of Laundry cleaning materials

High commitment and ability to work under pressure.

Good communication skills in Somali & English language

Team leader with demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills.

Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Experience:

4 to 6 years of experience in Laundry operations in a hospital or 5 Star or full-service hotels or other large-scale laundry service operations.

Reporting

The laundry supervisor oversees and works with laundry workers and reports to the head of General service.
