Position title       :       Obs & Gyn Doctor (1 Position)

Reporting to       :       Hospital Director

Location              :       Baidoa

Position Summary

The Obs & Gynecology Doctor oversees all activities within the SOS Baidoa District Hospital in order to achieve the highest level of medical care possible. The incumbent supervises co-ordinates and oversees the daily work of other medical staff. In addition, s/he maintains a close involvement with patient health-care, and personally attends to more complex cases referred by the nurses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take History, examination, investigation, resuscitation, management and care of new borns
• Do Triaging, assessment, admission and management of acutely ill children in the emergency ward
• Conduct ward rounds.
• Perform emergency cesarean section(C/Section) and gynecological cases if needed.
• Perform Referral services for complicated cases.
• Do History taking, assessment, investigation and management of children attending outpatient department.
• Triaging, assessment, admission, care and management of under-fives with moderate to severe acute malnutrition
• Do Assessment, investigation, classification and management of mild, moderate and sever forms of different diseases
• Do Management and reporting of common communicable diseases
• Provide Health education to clients and communities.
• Reviewing frequently severe cases who admitted in the wards of Obs & Gynocology or in the pediatric units.
• Attending night shifts in providing patient care.
• Consult with doctor in charge for all complicated cases and the cases required immediate consultation.
• Flexibility, good character is mandatory.
• Acts as the in charge of both the maternity and Operation theatre and oversees all activities including medical treatment and medical administration.
• Any assigned duties by his line manager should be accepted.

Qualification and Job competencies:

• Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery
• Should have minimum of 2 to 3years experience.
• Good counselling and communication skills
• Observing client confidentiality and privacy
• Good experience in BEMONC & CEMONC
• Able to provide Basic Life Support to women and newborns
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
• A good communicator with other midwives, Nurses, doctors, support staff, individuals, families and Para patients.
• Very good organization skills
• Team player
• Able to work without supervision.
