SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organization to which all SOS Children’s Villages including SOS Children’s Villages Somalia Association is affiliated. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia has officially been working in Somalia since 1985. SOS is currently working in 134 countries worldwide. We are committed to the welfare of children – often throughout the whole of their childhood, and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect. We also run education and health facilities. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children’s Villages upholds child protection policy and our selection processes reflect our commitment to the protection of children and youth from abuse. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia current works in three regions; Banadir Regions (Heliwa, Wadajir, Dharkenley and Dayninle districts) southwest-state (Baidoa and Hudur) Hirshabelle State (Jowhar & Balcad).

Job Title: Project Support Intern

Reporting to: Project Officer

Location: Mogadishu 

Position summary

Supporting the managerial and administrative processes led by SOS CV Somalia, in order to ensure smoothly implementation of the project and serve as the link between the project officer and other department directly linked with the project Under direct supervision of the Project officer and in close coordination with the other SOS officers contributing to the project, meal officer, Human Resource officer, logistic officer as well as admin and finance officers to ensure the timely and quality delivery of the all project activities..

Key Area of Accountability

  • Somalia supported by Italian agency for development cooperation for both health and nutrition activities respectively under the supervision and guidance of project officer .
  • Work in collaboration with project staff, meal office, HR office, logistic office as well as admin and finance offices in SOS CV SOMAIIA national office in Mogadishu.
  • Provide technical support to all project staff members in project sites when it necessary as well as national office project concerned officers.
  • Contribute to plan and implement projects in close collaboration with project officer.
  • Contribute to the management of the program in both location and national office as well under his/her supervision is properly managed by the project officer.
  • Constantly monitor the needs in the project area and propose appropriate action in collaboration with project officer
  • Participate in the writing of timely and accurate monthly reports in collaboration with PO.
  • Together with POs attend any SOS meetings in the national office as well as in the field if needed.
  • Participation in joint primary health care planning in collaboration and coordination with the national level officers concerning the project.
  • Supervision and monitoring of health and nutrition activities and documentations both in the field and in national office as well.
  • Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in public health, Nutrition, Nurse ,clinical officer with one year relevant experience
  • Ability to work in hard to reach areas with limited amenities.
  • Experience of working or volunteering with SOS CV SOMALIA
  • Fresh graduates from national universities are highly encouraged
  • SOS community nursing school recent graduates are highly encouraged.
  • Female applicants are highly encouraged

Competencies – knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Nationally recognized qualification in Health related courses preferably Nurse, public health, clinical officer, nutrition or any health related professional qualifications, or demonstrated equivalent level of experiences gained through working in a health programme in Somalia
  • Belief in team work and participatory approaches with an ability to motivate and support others
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically
  • Respect for, and ability to work with team and respect human diversity.
  • Solution-focused and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Takes initiative and responsibility for own learning and work
  • Willingness to travel to and work in field projects, often in lafole locations.
  • Ability to be work flexibly and to adapt to different and sometimes difficult situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and spoken Italian, English, including proven ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences
