Aamin Organization is a Not for Profit Organization in Somalia established in 2006. AAMIN is engaged in life-saving activities and on improving the livelihoods of Somalia communities through implementation of the following programs; Food Security, Health, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH), Youth-Empowerment Programs and Provision of free Ambulance services to the communities in Somalia. AAMIN Organization has received financing from Somali Humanitarian Funds (SHF) to implement a health project “Provision of Emergency and Essential Health Care Services through Mobile medical services and free ambulance services to IDPs and hard-to reach host communities in Mudug region (Galkayo South)”. In that regard, AAMIN wishes to Hire One (1) qualified Psychologist on a contract basis for a period of 12 months.

Position Summary:
To provide clinical psychology services to individuals who live within Galkayo South. Specifically, the successful candidate will provide psychological assessment and therapy, advice and consultation on individuals’ psychological care and contribute to the training of other professionals. He/She will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Aamin Organization policies and procedures.
Priority Task and Responsibilities:
Provide psychological assessments to individuals, interpret and integrate complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests (which require accurate administration and timing, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with individuals), support staff, family members and others involved in their care.
Formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological therapy and/or management of an individual’s mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the individual’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy. Negotiate the implementation of such plans and sharing of complex, sensitive, confidential, and at times contentious information.
Responsible for implementing a range of specialist psychological interventions for individuals, families and groups, within and across Galkayo South, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
Coordinate the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support plans across the community and help victims enjoy the best quality of life possible, helping them achieve their full potential.
Evaluate and make decisions about therapy options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to individuals’ formulation, and intervention plan.
Contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all individuals of the service.
Undertake clinical risk assessment and risk management for individuals and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
Communicate and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, in the course of psychological therapy.
Education Qualification
Degree from an accredited university in Clinical Psychology or related area with coursework related to contemporary behavioral treatment.
Candidates should be licensed psychologists
Relevant Experience
Working experience of 3 years in a busy psychiatric center or similar environment
Experience in providing mental health services to children and families. Experience working with children with neurodevelopmental differences preferred.
Two years of postgraduate clinical experience

A good communicator with other staff, doctors, nurses, clinical officers, support staff, individuals, families and Para patients.
