Sariiraale Farmers’ Cooperative Society was founded in 2013 and serves the agricultural community of Hirshabelle State, Somalia, by advocating for and addressing the needs of local farmers in the face of government restructuring, urban planning, and changing weather patterns. As one of the largest cooperatives in the region, it represents 5,174 farmers and aims to tackle food shortages, boost the production of grains and cash crops, and enhance market linkages among producers, traders, processors, and consumers. The cooperative also focuses on increasing smallholder farmers’ incomes, expanding land cultivation, and implementing programs that empower farmers economically and socially.
With its strategic position along the Shabelle River, which significantly influences the region’s agriculture and livestock sectors, Sariiraale facilitates collaboration among farmers, agricultural experts, agribusiness stakeholders, financial institutions, and government authorities to advance agriculture and food systems in Somalia.
The cooperative, is currently implementing a four-year project funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP). The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the Sariiraale Farmers’ Cooperative and build the resilience of smallholder farmer members against climate induced shocks, particularly drought, to ensure household food security and increased income of the farmers and other value chain actors.
To achieve the above objective, Sariiraale farmers’ Cooperative society is inviting qualified agro-dealers to express their interest in the procurement and distribution of agricultural inputs, specifically seeds, fertilizers and pesticides to 1294 farmers in Jowhar and Beledweyne this DEYR season.
Award-criteria
Only the offers received and pass all the six criteria will be considered for further evaluation and contract will be awarded to the lowest compliant tender. Based on these criteria, bidders’ responses will be evaluated to determine the most competitive offer that best meets our needs and delivers effective inputs to the target beneficiaries. Interested companies wishing to submit proposals should meet the listed technical and cost-effective criteria below.
- Company profile-including year founded, location of the company and details of the contact person
- Valid tax compliance certificate
- Valid Registration certificate from the Hirshabella State Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation
- Record of accomplishment of similar supply and distribution for agricultural inputs (seeds and pesticides) for the last 2-3 years.
- Competitive price quote including transport and distribution costs in two separate quotations as below (A & B) details.
