About the Job

Logistics Site Manager oversees logistics activities within the sub-delegation. She/he ensures that logistics systems are in place and operational and provides technical and operational support for purchasing, warehousing, stock management, fleet management, Air Operations management and import-export activities and statistics, in accordance with the ICRC’s logistics standards.

This is a national/resident position based in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees Logistics in Mogadishu sub-delegation, sets up, adapts and maintains infrastructure according to the needs in collaboration with the logistics team leader
  • Ensures that deliveries, transportation of goods, supply requests are closely monitored, and the correct documents are used in all transactions
  • Ensures proper planning within the site and clearly communicates constraints if any, in a timely manner to prevent delays
  • Ensures goods are transported and received from transporters with the correct documentation
  • Ensures that the medical and non-medical warehouses are managed and organised in line with ICRC procedures and standards
  • Follows the stipulated guidelines for all shipments (via sea/air) and ensures that all necessary procedures are adhered to, and shipments is received in a timely manner and in good condition
  • Ensures clearance procedures for shipments arriving via air- and sea are monitored and finalized within the stipulated time
  • Liaises with Nairobi office for efficient planning, dispatch and shipment of cargo and distribution
  • Inspects all Warehouses to ensure they are well organised, clean and secure
  • Ensures that all transactions pertaining to receiving and dispatching and distributing goods are accurately captured in the logistics system/database (Oscar Light) and all the documentation filed accordingly
  • Ensures that all the internal Administrative and financial procedures are strictly adhered to
  • Adheres to the tax exemption procedures and follows up on tax exemption for shipments arriving via air and sea
  • Interacts with suppliers and contractors, monitors their activities to ensure adherence to the terms stipulated in their contracts
  • Ensures all Air operations activities run smoothly; liaises with Airport authorities, immigration department, facilitates Aircraft landing, receives cargo and passengers, and facilitates passage of ICRC vehicles at the airport
  • Supervises and coaches the logistics team within the sub delegation
  • Is in charge of fleet management, transport and distribution activities within the sub delegation and submits monthly fleet reports to fleet section

Minimum qualifications and required competencies

  • Bachelor`s degree in logistics & procurement management or equivalent qualification in a related field of study
  • At least four (4) years’ work experience at a similar level within supply chain and logistics management field
  • Experience in fleet management and air operation activities
  • Strong planning, analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong degree of honesty and integrity, and a solid sense of responsibility, commitment, and work ethics
  • Confirmed team leadership skills and strong numerical ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment
  • Excellent knowledge and thorough understanding of context
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Somali
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Experience in driving vehicles equipped with manual gearbox
  • Valid driving licence

About the Job

The Warehouse Supervisor ensures that general warehousing activities are carried out in line with standard operating procedures.

She/he organizes and plans the warehouse’s activities.

This is a national/resident position based in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that goods are received, stored, and dispatched according to the stipulated procedures
  • Ensures that stock is rotated and picked according to the principles of first-in-first-out and/or first-expired-first-out
  • Conducts spot checks to ensure warehouse regulations, safety and preventive measures are adhere to
  • Ensures that warehouse space is well utilized and makes recommendations for layout changes
  • Monitors and ensures goods are properly segregated within the warehouse
  • Regularly updates the bin cards and stock cards
  • Conducts timely, efficient, and reliable order processing and documentation
  • Ensures that there is proper pest control and hygiene in the warehouse
  • Records information in the logistics IT system and ensures that discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner
  • Prepares and submits the required warehouse reports and statistics

Minimum qualifications and required competencies

  • Degree in logistics & procurement Management, warehousing, purchasing & supply Management, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification in a related field of study
  • Four (4) years’ work experience in a similar position in a busy Warehouse
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in inventory planning and control techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of political, social, and cultural affairs of the assigned region
  • Experience in medical stock management is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Somali
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Valid driving license

About the Job

The Assistant Cook works under the supervision of the Head Cook. He/she assists the Head Cook in preparation of meals and cleaning of the kitchen and the surrounding areas while adhering to the standard food, safety, and health procedures.

This is a national/resident position based in Garowe, Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Replenishes food supplies and supports in meal/menu planning
  • Assists in preparation of meals in the kitchen and serving the guests
  • Keeps the working tools and environment clean and in good condition
  • Alerts the supervisor of any maintenance requirements such as leakages in the kitchen area
  • Observes the stipulated hygiene standards while preparing meals and ensures there is no food wastage
  • Reports faults and maintenance issues regularly and follows up on repairs
  • Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen, surrounding areas, surfaces, cabinets and dining area
  • Observes with the standard hygiene and safety standards for the offices, premises, and the compound
  • Disposes Kitchen waste as per the set guidelines
  • Replaces the Head Cook in his/her absence
  • Primary School certificate and Vocational Training certificate
  • 2 years’ experience as a Cook in a busy kitchen
  • Experience in Housekeeping
  • Knowledge of different dietary requirements
  • Knowledgeable of Kitchen and Food Hygiene Principles
  • Fluent in written and spoken Somali
  • Elementary level English
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
