OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To optimize WHO technical intervention and guidance to NMCPs in Somalia and Somaliland in the area of recently established Malaria Data Base at zonal and National level. The objectives of WHO Malaria Control & Elimination (MCE) Control program is to provide adequate technical support to the national program to establish effective MCE program in SCS through: 1- Development and revision of the national strategies, guidelines, SOPs and other relevant documents of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), Control Program in SCS.
- Monitoring and Evaluation of the program interventions to ensure the quality of the national program activities.
3.Capacity building of the national health staff involved in the implementation of the malaria control and elimination program activities.
4.Supporting the national program in advocacy and raising the awareness regarding MCE in the country.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will perform the following assigned duties: 1.Identify, clean, validate and manage data through designing tailored spreadsheets, templates, and databases related to the programme by ensuring accuracy, consistency and comparability on regular basis as required.
2.Ensure records are timely completed to allow for accurate reporting on disease outbreak data from the field as and when requested.
3.Collaborate with MCE medical officer to apply appropriate statistical principles, and identify, analyze, and interpret trends, or patterns in complex datasets.
4.Explore and apply new data visualization techniques to increase insight and visibility to data trends and associated policy-related opportunities, challenges, and priorities.
5.Develop graphs, reports, maps, and presentations of data and analytical results for distribution within and outside the WHO.
6.Conduct training on MCE related applications to national data focal points (FPs).
7.Conduct meetings and collaborate with the other partners regarding case management, Entomology & vector control data, quarterly and annual bases.
8.Liaise with zonal malaria FPs and compile all malaria data to analyze and update the Malaria Data Base (MDB) on monthly basis.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: First university degree in information, data management, public health or economics .
Desirable: Post graduate degree of public health in epidemiology, Diploma in applied epidemiology from an accredited/recognized institute.
Experience
Essential: At least 2 years of relevant experience at the national levels in data and/or information management, including experience in emergency operations of humanitarian context.
Desirable: Working experience or sound knowledge of WHO mandate and goals in Health Action in Crises or experience in UN organizations/agencies and INGOs.
Skills
- Excellent knowledge in planning, analyzing and managing Malaria Data Base/DHIS2.
- Excellent knowledge in District Health Information System (DHIS).
- Proven skills in training NMCP data officers on Malaria Data Base and DHIS2
- Ability to prioritize, organize, manage and adapt management style according to needs.
- Ability to build and motivate teams and work under pressure.
- Excellent presentation skills.

Desirable: REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 34,004 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
