MAIN DUTIES
As a rig operations supervisor, you will be responsible for:
ü Supervisor the water well drilling operations, air compressor and other equipment to drill, bore, and dig for residential, commercial, and industrial water wells, and install well screens, casings, and other good fixtures to ensure organizational and donor requirement;
ü Review both organizational and donor requirements and contract terms to ensure proposed locations for water wells and verify depths alignment of boring positions;
ü Supervisor to select the appropriate drill for the job, using knowledge of rock and soil conditions and handle specific method of drilling including reverse circulation drilling;
ü Maintain and supervisor the cleaning of wells in preparation for use in continued;
ü Supervisor the Installation, test, maintain and repair water well pumps, piping systems, and equipment and perform pumping tests to assess well performance;
ü Perform routine mechanical maintenance work on water well drilling rig, air compressor, mud pump, and related accessors;
ü Inspect core samples to determine nature of strata encountered;
ü Monitor drilling operations, checking gauges and listening to equipment to assess drilling conditions and to determine the need to adjust drilling or alter equipment;
ü Retrieve lost equipment from boreholes, using fishing tools and equipment;
ü Gather and collect critical relative information pertaining to rig equipment failures in an effort to improve operation/maintenance processes and procedures to fulfill the contractual services agreement between the organization and the contractor;
ü Oversee equipment condition monitoring systems and notify customers of issues that could result in catastrophic equipment failure and unexpected downtime;
ü Use protective equipment and ensure the use of protective equipment on site as per the organization safety standards;
DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING
ü Perform and document pre-drilling inspections;
ü fill up a daily drilling report for the activities performed during his/her shift describing the work carried out and the equipment utilized;
ü Update the pipe tally book and draft dimensioned drawings of equipment run in the well;
ü Prepare drilling reports of all drilling projects;
ü Record drilling progress and geological data;
ü Prepare and document maintenance reports on company equipment;
ü Report unsafe conditions and work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner;
ü Document geological formations encountered during work;
ü Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment-related paperwork is carried out on regular basis.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
ü 5+ years’ experience in water well drilling services, plus advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills;
ü Must have high school diploma or equivalent; prefer a trade/technical school diploma;
ü Be able to understand common drilling practices across a wide range of environments;
ü Have attention to details and confidentiality;
ü Be a good team player and display good communication skills;
ü Display the ability to communicate professionally with customers and build a relationship;
ü Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
ü Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine the proper steps to address issues;
ü Work well under pressure;
ü Must be a team-oriented person;
ü Technical writing skills;
ü Ability to develop new ideas and work independently;
ü Creative thinker and problem solver;
ü Attention to detail;
ü Ability to work in the field as required;
ü Work rotational 12 hours shifts – weekends, days, nights, and holidays possible;
