Background

Dan-Guud Consortium is a consortium of local NGOs led by SOYDAVO and funded by the European Union, with membership drawn from SONSAF, YOVENCO, Media INK and MASAF. The Consortium is currently implementing a project entitled ‘Expanding Civic Space, Empowering Youth and Women to contribute to the governance and development processes in Somaliland’. The project is three years in duration.

The Consortium is committed to promoting gender equality, inclusive governance, political participation and human rights in Somaliland. The project aims to improve the role of women and youth CSOs in the decision-making and political life in Somaliland by increasing women and youth’s participation in elections and democratic processes in Somaliland.

Objective of this Request for Expression of Interest (EOI)

The objective of this Request for Expression of Interest is for the sub-grantees to conduct football and basketball tournaments in the Togdheer, Awdal, Sahil, Sool and Sanaag regions of Somaliland. The CSOs will organise 15 basketball tournaments for youth (male and female) in the five targeted regions and 15 football tournaments for youth (males and females). Each CSO will conduct three football and three basketball tournaments in each region. The total target people in these activities are 600 boys and 400 girls.

Key Deliverables

The Subgrantees are specifically required to deliver the following in each of their target locations:

  • Conduct three football and three basketball tournaments;
  • Collaborate with the regional ministry of youth and sports federations to mobilise and organise these sports activities.
  • Reach the target of 100 male and 66 female youth during the tournaments.
  • Submit financial and narrative report after completion of the activities
  • Collaporate with the consortium member to ensure visibility during activities.

Duration

The delivery of these Sports Tournaments will be conducted over eight weeks from the date of contract signature.

Budget

The current indicate cost for this activity is 4,000 Euros per target location.

Selection Criteria 

  • Must be legally registered under the Ministry of Planning and National Development.
  • Have an experience of up to 3 years in project implementations, particularly youth and sports.
  • Have at least 50% of women in their decision-making bodies.
  • Must be able to work closely with the local authorities, ministry of sport and the Consortium in facilitating the project activities.
  • Each organisation can apply for one region only.

This call for subgrantees is open to all emerging women and youth-led CSOs, and NGOs based in one of the five targeted regions.

Interested organisations should send the following application requirements to info@soydavo.org  no later than 21st  May 2022.

    • Expression of Interest (EIO) of no more than three pages explaining the area of operation, why the organisation is suitable as a Sub-grantee for this action, and budget estimations for implementing these activities.
    • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the organisation’s leadership with details of qualifications, experiences;
    • Telephone contacts and names of three referees.
  • Organisations’ full address details, including the physical location of the office;

Only shortlisted organisations will be contacted for assessment and interview.
