Introduction and background

Islamic Relief Somalia is an International humanitarian organization that has been working in Somalia since 2006. We are committed to achieving our core vision of caring for the people of concern in all countries where we work. Our goal is to provide vulnerable communities in Somalia with access to basic needs including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education, Basic Health services and Emergency and Livelihood Support.

IRS is currently implementing an emergency and developmental projects in Afgooye district, such projects include SMILE project which is an agricultural project that helps farmers with agricultural support (input) such as seeds, farm plowing, irrigation canal rehabilitation and agricultural training to improve crop production.

Through this project, IR plans to conduct and train of at least 300 farmers on improved farming technologies to support Afgooye vulnerable farmers for learning and improving farmers’ capacity through skills development and business linkages and increase farm productivity through adoption of improved agricultural technologies and practices and hence will increase and improve community resilience through build back better preparedness & response

Objectives of the Training of at least 300 farmers on improved farming technologies

The main objective for the training is to train 300 farmers on improved farming technologies and boost their agricultural knowledge through better agricultural technologies and practices to building sustainable livelihoods for the poor and vulnerable agro-pastoralist and small scale farmers in Afgooye district. The training components are as follows, and will be conducted as practical and theoretical teaching.

1. Crops Production Management Principles
2. Methods of Land preparation
3. Soil Management & Fertilizer Use
4. Water Management
5. Insect and Diseases Control
6. Weed Control
7. Harvesting and storage
8. Vegetable Production
9. Traditional Field Crops Overview

Requirement for the training

Training of at least 300 farmers on improved farming technologies including refreshments and stationeries

1. Budget breakdown/financial proposal inclusive transportation costs, venue, stationaries, refreshments and all associate costs until service to be completed successfully.
2. Profile
3. Similar work experience,
4. Bank statement and
5. Registration from local authority/federal government of Somalia.

The deadline for submitting bids is on 25/08/2021 at 5:00 pm and any documents received later than 25/08/2021 at 5:00 pm will not be accepted. The sealed envelopes should be dropped at TENDER BOX in Islamic Relief Somalia Office in Mogadishu office, Km5 Along Zobe – Afgooye Road Behind Ex-Higher Education Ministry Next to Champers of Commerce Opposite former OIC Office.
