To provide strategic direction for the projects managing by Somaliland mental health support organization (SMHSO) through leading and overseeing the planning, implementation and monitoring of all projects to ensure projects targets and milestones are reached. Effectively supervise guide and coach project staff.
The Executive Director will coordinate all organizational projects including planning, fundraising, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The coordinator will work closely with the program directorate to ensure the projects are implemented in compliance with donor rules and that reporting requirements are met.
Management
- Oversee the overall management of the institution and its activities (planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
- Ensure that the projects are integrated into the overall Somaliland Mental Health Support (SMHSO) framework
- Provide the required supports and supervise the staff and volunteers
- In suitable formats, and ensure proper documentation of the projects and in line with the donor’s requirement
- Ensure that activities are delivered according to the plan, and resolve obstacles to deliver through linking to appropriate internal and external support mechanisms
- Maintains high standard of confidentiality and respect regarding the organizations culture and its benefices
- Regularly update the chairperson of the BOD
Coordination and representation
- Liaise with the target community and build constructive relationships with the government, business community, CSO and other like-minded institutions and individuals
- Represent SMHSO at national level stakeholder coordination meetings
- Coordinate with other implementing agencies and the donors who are implementing or supporting similar interventions in the field of mental health
- Coordinate with other like-minded organizations in the planning, execution and reporting of mental health related businesses
Financial Management
- Provide financial oversight and develop annual budgets, track expenditure and prepare financial reports
- Ensure expenditure are in line with the budget and any under spends/overspends are raised with the program director and/or other BOD members on regular basis
- Promote zero tolerance on fraud and misappropriation of projects related and other SMHSO resources
Awareness raising and fundraising
- Lead all awareness creation efforts with different stakeholders including University/schools students, unions etc.
- Prepare detailed work plans to mobilize different SMHS stakeholders for securing more funds for the organization
- Support initiatives in creating different structures of volunteering on university campuses.
- Contribute to the awareness raising and promotion of activities and results of the program through identifying potential contributors and linking to the senior management team
- Play proactive role in addressing key emerging challenges facing our fundraising innovations/techniques
- In close collaboration with the program officer, propose and implement fundraising initiatives contributing to the success of the organization
- Explore, document and disseminate new ideas, lessons and experiences from the day to day awareness creation and fundraising operations that will improve the planning and management of future fundraising projections.
Media and communications
- Support the development and implementation of SMHSO communications strategy
- Support the management of strategic communications conferences and exhibitions we attend – including setting purposes and objectives, pre-planning, briefings, logistics, presentations, posters, exhibitions stands and collaterals, conference roles and responsibilities; metrics and data tracking and post conference evaluation and actions close outs.
- Support the preparation and the distribution of press releases, new bulletins and educational and informative texts, under the direction of the program.
- Support the design and delivery of strategic communications documentation and films
Monitoring
- Overseeing the development and the implementation of an effective monitoring and evaluation system
- Provide monthly and quarterly report to the Chairperson
Other
- Undertake any other assignment as assigned
Qualifications
- Master degree in Management, Education, Community Development, Social Science or other relevant discipline
- At minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience especially holding managerial positions
- Experience from working as a Project manager in humanitarian context
- Previous experience working from complex and volatile context
- Excellent in project management, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and report writing
- Strong analytical analyse skills for both qualitative and quantitative
- Experience and ability to communicate business leaders, political leaders with ability to convince
- Flexible and creative
- Goal oriented with ability to work under pressure independently with limited support
- Ability and willingness to work and live in challenging condition
- Excellent in computer and English both written and speaking
Contract period 12 months
- Salary/benefits: according to the organisation’s scale terms and conditions
