SOS Children’s Villages Somalia has officially been working in Somalia since 1985. SOS is currently working in 135 countries worldwide. We are committed to the welfare of children – often throughout the whole of their childhood, and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect. We also run education and health facilities. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Currently working in Banadir , Middle Shabelle and Bay/Bakool Regions.

Job Title: Project Assistant (1 Position)
Location: Mogadishu
Job Summary:
The incumbent will handle social enterprise initiative in Mogadishu that will transform the plastic waste into valuable product such construction materials and help the youth to benefit from the lucrative market and as well contribute to environmental protection.
He/she will support the establishment of a simple and innovative plastic recycling center that will offer waste management solutions through recycling of post-consumer plastic into valuable product.
Key Area of responsibility:
- Assist to develop and strengthen project implementation plan.
- Assist in tracking project performance and report, monitor and follow up on project activities
- Identify operational/technical and management problems arising during the implementation of the project activities and report to the responsible line manager to ensure timely action is taken
- Produce timely project quarterly monitoring and supervision reports and ensure their documentation and dissemination to concerned bodies.
- Give support to coordinate with technical expert to be able to deliver training to the prospective targeted group.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- A holder of a diploma in development/social sciences.
- Strong data collection and collation skills, processing, analysis and report writing.
- Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database software programs.
- Experience working with youth groups and local authorities.
- Good negotiating skills
