It has been implementing development projects in Somaliland since 2001. Multi-sectoral projects have been carried out in the Awdal, Marodijeh, Togdheer&Sanaag Regions for the past 20 years.
Description of the of the project and the bid
The irrigational channel flume is located in Darya dheere village in Saylac region. There has been damage to the irrigation canal caused by recent floods in that region. As a result, it has damaged the footings, columns, and slabs of the structure. Specifically, one column was destroyed by the flood and its supporting beam subsequently fell to the ground. In addition, the footings of other columns are weakened by huge stones which are bombarded by the waves of the flood in the rainy season. Therefore, the structure has not been functional for about five months, since May 2021. At the moment, the water is not delivered to the existing farms, which are about forty in number. Consequently, there could be food insecurity in the coming months as there is a decrease in the production of crops. WHH is going to rehabilitate this structure, irrigational canal flume, as soon as possible so that the farmers can have access to water from the channel.
Therefore, WHH is inviting competent companies or suppliers who have the required technical experience as depicted in the bid dossers to apply this tender by using our E-tender system.
The Main Activities of the Rehabilitation Activities:
- Excavation of 9 trenches around the existing 9 columns at the bases of the structure.
- Rehabilitation of existing 9 footings using RCC concrete using use bar#14mm.
- Construction 4inch-thick steel rectangular channel that extends 12m across the structure (reinforced with Y12 steel bars at the base).
- Inserting a PVC pipe into the metallic box and pouring plain concrete between the spaces.
- Anchoring the steel plate with concrete bolts and 8mm bars at the side of the box to concret
Note: all the corresponding documents (BOQ, drawing, forms etc) for the bid are uploaded to our E-tender system and can be downloaded from there. Also, the required criteria for the bid have been explicitly shown in the bid dossiers. The bidders must fulfill the minimum tender criteria as outlined in the tender documents and failure to do this will be subject to automatic disqualification.
Special attention
Quantities and contents of the listed assortment is subject to no alteration. Welthungerhilfe reserves the right to divide the orders into lots and to award the lots into different suppliers.
However, Welthungerhilfe prefers to place the order with one suppler only. All the relevant information is indicated in the bid documents. Furthermore, all bidders are also required to meet the minimum tender requirements as shown in the bid dossiers. Welthungerhilfe will strictly check the these criterium and most notably the supplier who fits the bid requirements will be deemed as a winner.
