The overall objective of ALIGHT Horn of Africa’s Somalia/Somaliland program is to broaden opportunities for disadvantaged communities in (particularly women and youth) to pursue a secure and sustainable livelihood; create an environment that enables social and economic re-integration of Somali youth into society through technical, vocational and leadership skills development that enables young people to secure gainful employment; sustainably rehabilitate through social transformation and economic empowerment; respond to recurring emergencies and help build resiliency of communities through strengthening of existing social services such as health and water facilities/structures and support creation of durable solutions for returnees to Somalia through a set of integrated activities aimed at socio-economic reintegration into their country and communities of origin.
ALIGHT Horn of Africa has its Area office – Mogaidsu, Jubaland in Kismayo and field offices in Dhobley, Afmadow and Representatives in Warsheekh and Balcad of Hirshabeele and Southwest. ALIGHT Horn of Africa implements an extensive drought response and lifesaving programs focusing on Health, WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods and protection. ALIGHT Horn of Africa also implements resilience and recovery programs, and aim to engage and expand its arm to the private sector, youth environment and resilience building.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
ALIGHT is implementing a new project aimed at providing Livelihood support for returnees, IDPs and none-displaced households. We are looking for a Field monitors to support the planning and implementation of community mobilization and represent ALIGHT in all the Project sites. Field Monitor is responsible for implementing and monitoring ALIGHT Horn of Africa Livlihood projects in field level under supervision of Project Manager. The position will be reporting to the project manager and shall be responsible in supporting project implementation at the field level in all three target locations of Gobweyn, Medina and Midnimo in Kismaya. The position holder will work closely with the Project manager, Bussiness development officer and the Moniutoring & evaluation team.
Responsibitlies and Duties:
- Assisting ALIGHT project team by undertaking follow-ups the needs and requirements of the most vulnerable families, IDPs, Refugees and the major social obstacles against normal life for people suffering hard living condition such as female-headed families, disabled persons, children and internally displaced people.

- Lead community mobilization and sensistization work.
- Support project monitoring team
- Provide regular update on project progress and key challenges.
- Provide update information on security situation at the field and advice the project team as need be.
- Assisting to translate their basic needs to proposals, ensuring that these projects will make them more productive, always thinking about the best solutions through encouraging them and finding suitable and reasonable social care projects in coordination with Project Manager.
- Support baseline and endline assessment of the project.
- Carrying out other duties as directed, in accordance with programme requirements.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Minimum Diploma/degree, Bachelor degree desirable.
- 3 Years’ experience in the similar humanitarian field in (NGO/INGO) sectors.
- Reliable, punctual and cooperative.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email.
- Proficient in written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Ability to organize tasks simultaneously and prioritize work.
- Honest, responsible and in good physical condition to meet the job’s demands.
- Willingness to adhere to and carry out Peace Winds Japan’s values
