Terms of Reference –Food Technologist
Summary
Overall, the Food Technologist will oversee the planning and execution of relevant agricultural value addition activities across all NAPAD projects according to strict timelines and within the program/ project budget. This will include mobilizing resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver relevant project activities according to plan. Primarily the food technologist will work at the farmers’ value addition center in Dolow town to develop value addition processes and recipes of agricultural products in the area. Additionally, S/he will ensure that food products are safe and meet the required standards.
Job Description
- To coordinate all agricultural value chain activities of the project
- To work with stakeholders to develop cost effective agricultural value chains relevant to the farmers in the area
- Research/develop and document suitable agricultural value chains for agricultural products in NAPAD’s operation areas
- Train/advice farmers on suitable agricultural value addition technologies
- Coordinate the processing of food products at the value addition center
- Develop and produce market relevant food products and recipes
- Ensure the safety and quality of food products
- Ensure appropriate packaging and labeling of all food products
- Conduct market surveys
- Coordinate marketing of food products from the farmers’ value addition center
- Monitor, document and develop reports of all relevant project activities
Position Title: Food Technologist
Duty Station: Dolow Town, Gedo, Somalia
Primary Reporting: Program Manager
Secondary Reporting: Director of programs.
Work closely with: Admin/Finance Team, Fund Raising & Donor Compliance & MEAL and communication.
Contract Duration: over three years including three months’ probation period with availability of funding & satisfactory Performance)

Job Requirements
Minimum diploma with five years’ experience or A degree in Food science with two-year experience, knowledge of food safety systems such as ISO 22000, HACCP, be familiar with English, Somali and Kiswahili languages, be a law abiding citizen and a certificate of good conduct is required.
