NRC Somalia is looking for Grants Officer to be based in either Mogadishu, Garowe or Hargeisa. The purpose of the Grants Officer position is to provide day-to-day support to the Grants Manager in all tasks related to effectively managing NRC’s various grants across the entire portfolio.

Generic Responsibilities;

  1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  2. Develop and maintain overview of all grants, donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines, including filing of grant documents (including through the grants database)
  3. Coordinate the development of donor applications and reports, as well as ensuring donor compliance and quality control
  4. Contribute to the development and revision of funding proposals, budgets and donor reports
  5. Be updated on donor priorities and track and share relevant calls for proposals
  6. Document, analyze, and share learning from proposal and reporting process, and compliance with donor rules and regulations
  7. Contribute to continuously improving internal grant management systems
  8. Provide an internal help-desk on donor related issues, including organize and deliver trainings in donor rules and regulations, as well as proposal and report writing
  9. Contribute to PCM trainings and usage of the NRC PCM frame work in the CO as delegated by the Grants Manager
  10. Support external donor audits

Specific Responsibilities;

  1. Somalia office focal point for Cycles, including the creation of new projects, updating project specific information and training of staff.
  2. Ensures comprehensive Grants records are maintained and all Grants relevant documentation including CN, Proposals, Budgets, Grants Agreements and Amendments are properly filed
  3. Manages the process of compiling reports (donors and internal reports) in close collaboration with CC Specialists, Programme and M&E teams, and Finance to ensure accurate, transparent and timely delivery of narrative and financial documents for allocated projects.
  4. Maintains an up-to-date Grants tracker including overview of all grants and internal and external deadlines
  5. Responsible for compliance in relation to grant management and project cycle management processes for allocated projects.
  6. Ensure the documentation of grants-related meetings and workshops is gathered and available;
  7. Ensures that donor logbook, proposal and reporting formats and guidelines, compliance related information are available and collects all necessary documents relevant for the submission of proposals and reports
  8. Support in the development and implementation of grants-related trainings, including proposal and report writing

Qualifications:

  • University degree in project management or relevant discipline
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a related field
  • Relevant experience in the humanitarian sector
  • Experience from working with humanitarian and development donors
  • Logical and methodical approach to work
  • Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Highly proficient in the use of Excel; above average computer skills for Word and other applications
  • Ability to work in high-stress scenarios with competing interests

What We Offer:

Contract period: 10months, with possibility of extension

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions

Duty station: Mogadishu/Garowe/Hargeisa (Either of the 3 locations is applicable)

Travel: frequent travel to project areas

NRC may be required to verify the identity of its partners and to check that its partners have not been involved in illegal activities. NRC reserves the right to use electronic screening tools for this purpose.
