Brief introduction:

The Sustainable production and quality assurance project (SPQA) aims to “increase resilience of the agro-pastoral population and communities through sustainably improved vegetable and fruit production and it’s marketing. The target regions of the project are selected villages in Togdher region, Odwayne district in -Somaliland, and Nugaal region Burtinle district in Puntland.

The objective of this project is: Production, Marketing and Framework regulations of selected, high-quality agricultural products have been strengthened. To achieve the above-mentioned objective, the project is structured in 2 components:

Component 1: The knowledge of improved cultivation methods of the agricultural producers in selected regions in Somaliland has improved.
Component 2: The skills of agricultural producers to market selected products in Somaliland are increased.

SPQA Project office in Burco is seeking to hire qualified driver for the project’s vehicles.

Responsibilities

Safe and responsible performing all official travel using official vehicles;
Regular servicing and looking after official vehicles;
Taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations;
Running official errands and assisting with other office work

The driver performs the following tasks:
Driving

Drive carefully and responsively and always according to the traffic regulations.
Providing passenger transport in an official car for project staff, official visitors and guests according to GIZ standards
Running errands for the project, e.g. sending letters and messages, paying bills and buying smaller quantities of office supplies;
Helping with transporting goods and completes the vehicle log correctly and conscientiously in accordance with GIZ standards.

Service

Cleaning the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) regularly;
Checking oil, water, brakes and brake liquid, tyre pressure, battery levels and the entire vehicle, AC, headlights, brakes, bodywork for dents etc. ;
Responsibility for the project vehicle documents and their good condition, keeping a vehicle log and recording monthly maintenance;
Calculates monthly petrol, oil and lubricant consumption and reports need for service and carries out minor repairs;
Immediately reporting all involvement of the project or office vehicle in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss or theft of vehicle fittings;
Adherence to risk management guidelines.
Implementation of all Covid 19 regulations stipulated by GIZ
Any other task asked for from superior or the management of the project

Knowledge management

Being knowledgeable about the project locations and enquiring knowledge on best routes before field trips;
checking traffic information and taking them into account when planning routes for field trips;

Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

Holds a valid driver’s license;
Completed secondary school education will be an added advantage;

Professional experience

At least 5-8 years’ work experience as a driver with two references one of whom is your immediate supervisor;
No major accidents in the past 3 years;
First Aid & Emergency training is an advantage.
