TERMS OF REFERENCE (TOR) FOR THE CONSULTANT OF ABE L1 & 2 TLM REVIEW

II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Program Summary:

Bar ama Baro (BAB) is a five-year primary education program designed to support the Government of Somalia in the design and delivery of comprehensive, inclusive non-formal education services. The program is improving access and quality of education for school children through direct implementation of an Accelerated Basic Education (ABE) program in 19 districts across Somalia. Through a combination of program design and delivery, policy support, and system change, BAB works with the Somali government and its stakeholders to improve curriculum, increase capacity, extend service reach, and strengthen learning support, ensuring that children, regardless of marginalization, will be able to access equitable, safe, conflict-sensitive education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Scope of work:

The consultant will be responsible to review and analyze the collected data from the field for L1 & 2 ABE textbooks and teacher guides. The specific tasks of the consultant are as follows.

–          Review and revise the current L1 & 2 ABE textbooks and teacher guides

–          Review and revise all the piloting feedbacks from the field targeted districts

–          Produce a draft revised report based on the above analysis and incorporate comments/suggestions from the stakeholders

–          Present findings and recommendations from the revised report

Deliverables:

–          Power point presentations of the analysis results

–          Consolidated report based on the above analysis and incorporated comments/suggestions from the stakeholders.

Reporting and Supervision:

The consultant will report technically to the Deputy Chief of Party He / She will ensure deliverables are submitted as drafts prior to the final submission. .

Duration of the consultancy:

30 working days

III. KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Key requirements for this consultancy include:–          Advanced university degree in Education or other related field, preferably with some specialized areas. E.g., Curriculum Development

–          At least 7 years of senior level professional work experience in relevant field

–          Proven experience in curriculum development, strategic planning, program/project and/or policy formulation

–          Experience with Government institutions or international NGO’s producing global reports is mandatory.

–          High level proficiency in standard computer software, in particular Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint.

–          Excellent command of the English and Somali languages;

–          Availability and commitment to complete the assignment within strict deadlines.
