About the Institute

Tayo-maal Technical Institute is established in 2017 as enterprise-based. But meanwhile developed as an Institutional based Institute. Tayo-maal Technical Institute is an independent institute that develops and delivers advanced technical skills Education training and vocational training courses, with a relevant and up to date technical skills and Knowledge to significantly enhance youth productivity and increase their competitive advantage over their employers

Tayo-maal Technical Institute was created to provide a meaningful vocational education for those who might get or otherwise not have that chance of being skillful. In addition, general education and life skills are integrated into the curriculum development, and new learning and teaching strategies are at the center of its design development.

A special collaborative relationship guided the design of this school which held the promise of an enriched technical learning experience. All involved in the dream of this school imagined a place where students would work together on issues of technical leadership, skills promotion, and entrepreneurship while learning a vocation. Assessment of much-needed demand of skills and discussions with Somaliland youth and community members determined vocations to be taught at the school.

Tayo-maal Vocational Education Center is situated at Hargeisa Somaliland Ahmed Dhagah Masala view Village road. It is a Ministry of Education registered, a private institution managed by a dedicated Board of Directors and Community Representatives. Our students thrive in a school that is fully equipped. Being a part of the Tayo-Maal Technical Institute family teaches students about building skills, character and community.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Create, update and maintain training materials, manuals, handouts, practice exercises and administrative documentation;

Maintain standardized student assessments and record keeping system for student progress and attendance;

Work with school principal to ensure that student progress reports are reviewed periodically to reflect individual progress towards goals;

Integrate a variety of teaching strategies and curriculum content; Give explanations, reasonable and appropriate assignments, and directions clearly;

Organize the classroom to contribute both theory and practical to the learning process;

Perform other duties related to the tools

Training program as assigned by supervisor.

Requirement

Must have a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Education /Vocational training

  • Must have a practical skills in the either of the following fields: –
  • Aluminum fabricator
  • Electrician and solar system
  • Tailor and cloth technology
  • carpentry and gypsum board
  • Automotive electrician
  1. Aluminum fabrication
  • Aluminum applicant should have a teaching experience of a minimum of 5 years in Aluminum fabrication works and teaching skills like Aluminum Curtain wall/ spiders systems/ Doors & Windows/ frameless glass/ Cladding.

  1. Electrician and solar system

Experience with electric safety, troubleshooting and wiring terminations in both residential industries and solar systems and electric logic controller joining in the field of instruction.

  1. Tailor and cloth
  • Ensuring that all chapters of the course manual delivered to the trainees.
  • Teaches and develops design for garment, adapts existing design for garment, or copies existing design for garment.
  • Teaches how to draw individual pattern or alter existing pattern to fit customer’s measurements.
  • Positions pattern of garment parts on fabric, and cuts fabric along outlines, using scissors.
  • Teaching how to measures customer for size, using tape measure and records measurements.
  • Teaches how to fit basted garment on customer and marks areas requiring alterations.
  1. Carpentry and Gypsum Board
  • teaches to read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
  • Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
  • Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Lay out floorings, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
  1. Automotive electrician
  • Teaching Installing new vehicle wiring systems.
  • Teaching Installing and troubleshooting immobilizer and alarm systems.
  • Teaching information about issues with their electrical system.
  • Repairing and replacing faulty wiring or electrical systems.
  • Teaching Servicing of electrical automotive parts.
  1. Plumbing

Plumbing Instructor needed to develop and teach courses that will prepare students to enter the field as a Plumbing Technician. Courses are designed to cover the basic installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components

Must be fluent in English and Somali Language Passion for teaching and learning Process

The teacher’s responsibilities are divided into three broad buckets:

A – Teaching your subject (60% time)

  • Teach theory, conduct practical, and take regular tests on all the four modules of MSFC
  • Build a positive and strong school culture, with a focus on learning and joy
  • Build awareness of Skill Development among parents of students through regular meetings
  • Visit and learn from external organizations and bring the learning to your school

B – Mentoring students (20% time)

  • Mentor all students to identify a trade of their choice to specialize in further
  • Help in identifying careers for students to pursue vocational skills after Grades

C – Leading projects in school (20% time)

  • Lead one or two projects to improve student exposure, such as bringing industry experts to your school, partnering with industries for internships, etc.
