Job Title: Temporary Early Childhood Education Officer.
Location: Mogadishu
Direct Line Manager: Sponsorship Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Early child education officer supports SOS CV social enterprise Education sector activities in the respective location of responsibility, working as part of the broader team. The ECD officer engages in activity planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities to ensure timely and quality achievement in line with project plans. The ECD officer builds and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders at field level, including Day care owners, parents, community leaders and wider community, and local government representatives.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and follow-up on the implementation of early childhood care projects related to Early childhood care center to ensure their progress in accordance with the established goals, plans and strategies of early childhood development
- Work closely and collaboratively with Day care centres and partners to discuss early child care operational and implementation issues, provide solutions, recommendations for quality services delivery.
- Prepare plans for enhancing the capacity of day care centres and managers, teacher in general and the trainers in particular and follow up the implementation of the plans with all stakeholders.
- Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders across relevant sectors through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate programme implementation and build capacity of stakeholders to achieve and sustain results on Early childhood care services providers.
- Supervise, guide and support day care centre staff/educators, as required, in the delivery of Centre programs, ensuring adherence to all regulations and procedures of early childhood development services.
- Provide technical support to day care owners/managers to apply appropriate project implementation approaches as indicated in the action of the project and utilizing appropriate and relevant skills training curricula and linking training with the business needs.
- Participate in development of day care centers quality monitoring system and follow up the implementation of the system by stakeholders.
- Organize and carry out project review meetings as planned.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practice to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable day care results.
- Document best practices and lessons learnt from implementing the project activities and prepare, submit appropriate reports to Program coordinator.
- Produce timely project monitoring reports and ensure their documentation and dissemination to program coordinator.
- Prepare project and related activities technical and progress report as per the requirements and standards of SOS CV Somalia.
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma in Early childhood education development/social works
- A minimum of two to three years of relevant professional experience in social development planning and management in early childhood development related areas is required.
- Demonstrated experience delivering early childhood/care educational program.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues as they apply to school children, teachers and communities.
- Ability to produce quality written reports in the English language.
- Experience working collaboratively with community and local government representatives.
- Strong data collection and collation skills, processing, analysis and report writing.
- Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database software programs.
