Our client is one of the major humanitarian and development actors in Somalia. The client is expanding its programming to implement primary healthcare service programmes in Hudur. It provides technical and operational support for service delivery at static health facilities and mobile medical clinics.
In this context, our client is recruiting a Health Programme Assistant (Nurse) based in Hudur to manage implementation of projects in Hudur, strengthen quality of healthcare service delivery and community outreach services in static and mobile clinics.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Health Programme Officer, and under the overall supervision of the Health Programme Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and strengthening our client’s health programming in Hudur, including quality control of healthcare services at the client’s -supported clinics, capacity building of seconded Ministry of Health clinical staff, administrative and financial support to enable programme implementation, liaising with Ministry of Health and other government counterparts, and supporting new initiatives such as expansion of immunization services, expansion of nutrition programming, and community health initiatives to improve health outcomes and prevent disease outbreaks.
Role objectives
- Manage our client’s supported primary health clinics, mobile medical teams, outpatient therapeutic programmes in Hudur. This includes, but is not limited to, quality assurance, oversight of data management, stock management, assessment of gaps at clinics and implementation of corrective measures, and all administrative tasks related to operation of the clinics.
- Assist in monitoring clinical service delivery to ensure it meets the client’s quality standards, and that national clinical management and treatment guidelines are strictly followed
- Assist in keeping track of medical supplies and drugs and in ensuring and verifying timely replenishment to avoid stock outs
- Orientate, train, and build capacity of seconded Ministry of Health staff at the clinics through training, mentorship, and on-job Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Monitor the performance of Ministry of Health seconded and partner staff and ensure timely submission of their monthly attendance sheets to Mogadishu office
- Ensure community outreach medical services are provided in accordance with project plans, including health promotion and delivery of curative/preventive services in the community.
- Identify project development opportunities on the ground and communicate these proactively to Senior Health Programme Officer & Health Programme Coordinator
- Submit weekly reports to Health Programme Coordinator on program activities, coordination meetings, administrative issues, etc.
- Liaise with key stakeholders externally including the Ministry of Health and other government departments as needed, and coordinate internally with the client’s other programme units
- Review key epidemiological data every week in a timely manner and contribute to analysis
- Represent the client in health coordination meetings
- Undertake duty travel when required, including occasionally to other project locations in Gedo region and Jubbaland State to provide staffing coverage when needed.
- Conduct additional tasks that may be assigned by the Health Programme Coordinator and Senior Health Programme Officer.
