The Ministry of Environment and Climate change is mandated to protect, conserve and manage the environment through sustainable development aimed at eradicating poverty, improving living standards, and promoting climate change resilience.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) seeks an experienced Environmental Governance coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

• Capacities of government officials working on Environmental governance
• strengthened and effective coordination for sustainable environmental management
• Responsible for the project activities that require expertise
• operationalize National environmental action plan:
• Conduct Consultation workshop/training to be held to determine priority actions and capacity needs to promote environmental sustainability at the local level
• Facilitate Implementation of environmental dimensions of SDGs
• Enhance Environmental monitoring, compliance and enforcement
• Recruit Local Consultant to train 10 focal points on MEA to ensure compliance and reporting at the state level
• Undertaken Environmental advocacy and campaign

Competencies

• Emphasis on sustainable environmental governance
• Ability to coordinate meetings, trainings and conferences
• Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and implement activities
• Strong ability to coordinate and work as a team, including in complex environmental governance
• Demonstrated experience in participatory processes and facilitating dialogue government officials at national and local levels.
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in complex, multi-stakeholder project environments
• Strong oral and written communication skills
