SOS Children’s Villages invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates who fulfill the eligibility criterion for the below One Position.

Job Title: Measurer (1 position).

Location: Balcad-Somalia

Direct Line Manager: Nutrition Nurse

Job Summary:

As the Measurer for Nutrition the employee is expected to carry out preparation for nutrition activities carried out at SOS Medical Centre Balcad. Additionally, s/he will be registering children under 5 years within the program. The employee will work under the guidance of the Nutrition Supervisor.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

Measure anthropometric measures, MUAC, and oedema and cases to appropriate structure.
Record properly all screening results and write daily, weekly, monthly reports.
Explain purpose of admission
Fill out and maintain the register
Identify absentees or defaulters and inform the outreach workers
Organize home visit for absents to avoid them to default from the program.
Check at home the environment and provide advices to the caretaker: hygiene, health education
Fix a bracelet with an identification number
Assist to a feeding time to observe the child and caretaker in their environment and provide advices.
Receive the patients admitted, together with those accompanying them, and give them information on how the centre functions.
Record in the screening book all beneficiaries screened, and refer them to the appropriate structure using a referral ticket.
Register the admitted beneficiaries in the registration book and check that all the procedures have been followed.
Prepare the monthly report on weight gain, length of stay, recovery rate, death rate, defaulter rate etc.
Update all the discharges in the registry and the follow-up book.
Update discharge cards/registers and others relevant registers.
Give the patient or the person accompanying him the treatment card, a food ration, and an appointment for the follow-up
To carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

Course certificate on public health, nursing or nutrition or high school certificate
Minimum 2 years of experience in registration, screening, and measuring anthropometric measurements
Previous experience in NGOs/Donor funded programs is preferable.

Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities:

Strong knowledge of child rights and child protection.
Able to pay attention to detail and monitors the quality of inventory
Proactive, result-oriented, independent, able to identify and carry out duties with minimum supervision
Sound knowledge of nutrition programming
Excellent understanding of the local context and able to maintain good working relationships with team members.
Strong communication skill both writing and verbal.
