1.       Position Information

Position Title: HMIS Health Management Information System Assistant

Duty Station: Mogadishu, Somalia

Reporting Directly To: Health and Nutrition Officer

Remuneration: Negotiable

Managerial Responsibility: NA

Duration: 3 months

Directly Reporting Staff: None

2.       Organisational Context and Scope

For increasing access to Health and Nutrition services, YouthLink works in urban IDPs in Banadir region through the provision of Mobile health and Nutrition services that include treatment of SAM, essential maternal and child health services in Partnership with Concern Worldwide.

Job Summary:

The Health Management Information System Assistant will be responsible to ensure the high quality and timely inputs of data that come from field for health activities of YouthLink Health & Nutrition programme. He/She will work closely with primary, reproductive, and community health/integrated community case management teams, for supporting and monitoring health activities data, ensuring that all means of verification are documented and that program data is accurate and reliable. The Health Information System Assistant will be reporting to Health & Nutrition Officer

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

 Ø  Responsible for the data entry of weekly and monthly reports (where relevant) of the hospital, and health facilities (HFs), and supported comprehensive.

Ø  Coordinating reporting and data quality in an accurate and timely manner.

Ø  Update on a weekly basis the internal databases for all the activities and share it with Health & Nutrition Officer.

Ø  Ensure to document all means of verifications for health & Nutrition program activities.

Ø  Conduct regular data auditing visits to mobile health teams (MHTs), in health program sites to check data quality, verify data sources, and provide on the job training and on the spot feedback.

Ø  Assist in consolidating and following up on corrective actions set by program team following monitoring and verifications findings.

Ø  Track the hardcopy reports and ensure to archive them in appropriate way

Ø   Provide orientation and training to health staff on data collection/ monitoring/ survey tools as needed providing timely and detailed feedback whenever identifying any significant gap in the program activities.

Ø   Closely work and participate Joint supportive supervision with DHMTs to the Mobile Clinics

Ø  Participate in internal Programme meetings as required

Ø  Perform any other task needed and requested by supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

Ø  University graduate, in computer science, Public Health, Social science or other relevant topics.

Ø  At least two years of relevant work experience, with data entry related tasks.

Ø  Previous experience with health information.

Ø  Knowledge of CommCare and KOBO data collection tool.

Ø  Ability to conduct field visits to health & Nutrition program sites

Ø  Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Ø  Good oral and written communications skills in English and Somali

Ø   Excellent ability to organize work, on time submission and work completion, maintain composure, ability to prioritize competing tasks, preform under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

Desirable:

Ø  Experience of working with health systems at different levels

Other Skills

Ø  Good interpersonal and communication skills

Ø  Ability and willingness to interact successfully and respectfully with people at all levels and from all backgrounds

Ø  Ability to work under pressure and without constant supervision.

Ø  Flexibility and ability to carry out additional duties and tasks as required and adapt to a changing operational environment
