Job Title: Insurance Operations Manager

Department: Wadaag Insurance

Reporting to: CEO

Staffing Responsibility: All insurance Staff

Duties and responsibilities are but not confined to:

Oversee daily operations of Wadaag Insurance
Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
Improve and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
Manage and cultivate existing relationships and workflow with Strategic partners/teams, such as Somaliland Insurance Authority and other professional bodies in the private and financial sector.
Evaluate staff and company performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics on Premium, Claims, Expenses
Coordinate and manage compliance responsibilities
Stay informed of Regulatory requirements in Somaliland insurance in general
Review and organize company approval evaluation for new business opportunities or program changes generated by the changing regional and world economy
Prepare quarterly reports for Wadaag Board and monitor outstanding action items
Oversee Wadaag Underwriting, Claims, marketing, and legal teams
Work closely with Audit section, finance and admin Section and the Sharia team.
Provides technical guidance on matters related to medical insurance, motor insurance, defining cover attitude, risk evaluation, development of policy – terms of policy, premium etc.

Skills and Qualifications

The Candidate:

Proven history of delivering results and projects to agreed deadlines
Experience of being responsible for the development / management of insurance products
Ability to manage a large team of office staff with different background, skills and located in different areas.
Ability to build teams and demonstrate a confident and robust personality, not afraid to challenge
Exhibit a strong, comprehensive knowledge of insurance company management, preferably in Somaliland.
Strong, creative, and commercial abilities as well as analytical approach to underwriting, and strong knowledge of different insurance products.
Good communication skills to drive business plans forward and cement relationships
Excellent analytical and reporting skills, advanced Excel ability preferred
Minimum of 5 years Insurance industry experience
Ability to travel to all Wadaag regional offices to train and supervise insurance staff.
Intellectual ability to, analyse and critically appraise complex information (numerical, research, findings from consultation) draw conclusions and present findings in a compelling way.
Communication and influencing skills to inform, consult and negotiate with a range of audiences in a straightforward, articulate, sensitive and persuasive manner, both orally and in writing on both Somali and English languages.
Organisational skills to plan and prioritise own time
Identify and encourage innovative solutions, support a ‘can do’ culture and achieve results.
Ability to independently carry out basic research on different financial and other topics.
Ability to safeguard information and adhere and follow Wadaag group confidentiality policy and equal opportunity policy
The applicant should have a clear criminal record and be free from substance misuse including chewing Qat and tobacco.
The candidate for this post should be educated to a degree level in insurance or management.
