Branch Operation Supervisors (6 Positions) – Kalafo, Barey, Bokh, Garbo, Sagag and Warder, Somali Regional State of Ethiopia

Purpose of the Job

To support the Branch’s book of accounts management and makes follow-up of customer accounts productivity and marketing results. Attend Customer Account and Transaction Services choirs and provide efficient and quality service to customers.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Authorize transactions originated by customer service officers, check the correctness of all transactions and take corrective measures whenever any irregularity occurs.
  • Check all books of accounts are in balance, follow-up reconciliation of suspense accounts, and long outstanding items and prepare all financial reports of the Branch when required.
  • Keep custody of cheques, payment instruments and passbooks stocks
  • Keep under his/her custody printed check books received from the Branch Manager to be delivered to current account holders and ensure the proper delivery of same.
  • Establish, maintain and expand productive and professional relationships with public organization accounts ensuring that customers’ needs are met.
  • Prospect for potential customers through different ways and coordinate with CSS, and other Bank staff to up-sell and cross-sell the Bank’s products to existing customers.

·         Regularly monitor customer account progress relative to account plan, follow up on and provide feedback about requests initiated by customers in addition to the

  • Manage information associated with Digital banking service operations and ensure that they are tracked, communicated and maintained.
  • Facilitate the provision of agent banking mobile applications to branches, agents and customers through different channels.
  • Check the completeness of all agent banking customer’s applications.
  • Open agent banking account after carrying out appropriate agent due diligence process.

·         Deploy POS terminal at the merchant site and prepare merchant training kit and conduct training.

  • Gather internal and external background information on potential customers to increase knowledge about their needs and potential value.

·         Ensure that sufficient stock of formats and stationary material is maintained in the branch

  • Regularly contact assigned accounts/segments, giving priority to customers with higher estimated potential value.
  • Identify a few highly promising small accounts which can be supported by the corporation and transformed into high-value accounts and determine the appropriate strategy for ongoing contact.
  • Continuously discuss with customers, review and keep up to date on any changes to customer profiles to identify trends in their service/product demand and any opportunities.
  • Educate customers about the corporations existing, new or enhanced products and any changes that may influence the customer and ensure that customers utilize all appropriate transactional products to their benefit.
  • Maintain full and accurate customer records and electronic and paper files with adequate backup, as required by the corporations and regulations.
  • Regularly review the profitability, risk, growth and other features of accounts managed, identify potential risks and opportunities of accounts, and initiate the necessary actions accordingly.
  • Monitor activity in accounts’ portfolio to proactively identify unusual occurrences or suspected fraudulent activities, or any other early-warning signals of potential risks.
  • Examine every transaction and related documents and verify accuracy and legitimacy daily.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports about accounts managed.
  • Follow Income and Expense Summary Accounts of the Branch, apply appropriate follow-up on controllable expenses and ensure that the Branch’s books of accounts are in balance
  • Ensures that correct receipts and advice are issued to customers for all transaction types
  • Approves and conforms transactions per approval limit.
  • Checks and signs general ledger position after verifying its accuracy against proof sheets
  • Reconciles and follows up all accounts of suspense (accounts payable, accounts receivable) nature ensures proper journalizing, balancing and posting of daily transactions
  • Analyzes the genuineness of expenses incurred by the branch
  • Signs or countersigns on documents and all transaction tickets.
  • Checks blocking orders, account closing, lost instruments report and registration of delinquent customers.
  • Adhere to branch cash control and security requirements in control of cash and negotiable instruments.
  • Evaluate branch performance against the targeted plan
  • Reporting Anti Money Laundering reports to concerned organ
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
  • Receives Trade Service-related customer applications, verifies the signature, conducts preliminary checking of applications and supporting documents against checklist and forwards to head office organ for processing.
  • Maintains blocked account for import products before forwarding the application to head office organ
  •  Receives shipping documents and sends to head office organ.
  • Identifies customers’ needs and forwards any new product ideas to the Trade Service support Team.
  •  Follows up on cases that need legal action.
  •  Maintains files and records related trade service operations.
  •  Release shipping documents by making endorsement.
  •  Follows up on customer’s accounts/cases for pre-advice on measures to be taken by customers that affect customers’ accounts.
  • Reporting weekly buying & selling FCY to NBE without fail
  • Performs other duties assigned by immediate supervisor

Skills and Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Management, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields.

·         Four (4) years of relevant experience in branch and accounts operation. Knowledge of IFB will be advantageous.
