About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to make the world a better place. For over 20 years, we have been providing relief in big and small emergencies worldwide alongside running long-term missions in several countries in crisis.

Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character– have been carried out in 44 countries so far. Our focus is on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), but also implement projects in Nutrition. For more information, please refer to www.pah.org.pl.

PAH Mission in Somalia:

PAH has been present in Somalia since 2011. With WASH, FSL, and Nutrition programs PAH supported people from the most vulnerable communities in different regions in Somalia. Our primary focus is to provide safe drinking water through the rehabilitation of water infrastructure, the construction of water distribution systems, and the construction of rainwater reservoirs. In our work, we also focus on other WASH components such as the improvement of sanitary conditions, and hygiene promotion to make our WASH interventions fully comprehensive. In FSL, we implement an unconditional Cash transfer

Our current donors are ECHO, GFFO, SHF, and UNICEF. PAH, programs target the most vulnerable IDPs, hosts, and rural communities as well as institutions in Banadir, Lower Shebelle, Middle Shebelle, and Galmudug Region.

PAH, in Somalia, is looking for an FSL Project Officer who will become part of our operation team. The person will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for FSL day-to-day activity implementation in Jowhar as assigned by the Head of program.
  • Work closely with FSL Project Assistants, local government line ministries, and the communities in the planning and coordination of PAH FSL Activity under WFP project.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Head of Program regarding project activities from the Field.
  • Ensure correct beneficiary selection procedure and criteria are followed by the FSL team
  • Ensure any feedback from beneficiaries or target communities shared by FSL field monitors and the community members are responded to appropriately or raised with Project
  • Support the planning of their day-to-day FSL activities;
  • Coordinate with Head of programs and field finance team, logistics in the planning of cash distribution activities.
  • Ensure that beneficiaries are adequately communicated about project activities and plans, including distribution date and conditions required for verification.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Head of Program as per the requirement.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly plans for monitoring, review, and quarterly and annual project reports and plans
  • Be fully aware of how far the project fulfils child rights in terms of PAH’s strategic and thematic plans.

Ensure that Child Rights, PLWDs & women programming inclusivity are effectively incorporated into all aspects of PAH’s work

  • Organize meetings to sensitize communities about the purpose and modalities of the food security and livelihoods project
  • Insure all Document relevant distribution data (Beneficiary List, Master list are well Completed and Corrected)
  • Participate and lead the selection of beneficiaries for the different Criteria.
  • Performs any other duty assigned by your immediate supervisor

Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field (Public health, nutrition, food security related field) with 3 years’ experience in similar tasks
  • Experience in community services, women empowerment, youth activities, protection, distribution, or registration.
  • Knowledge of Cash programming
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and values
  • Readiness to travel including remote areas
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Very good in MS Office
  • Fluent in English and Somali language
