What will you do?

  1. Focal point for School Meals Programme activities covering Banadir region and Hirshabelle state.
  2. Liase with partners (NGOs, UN and Government) in the implementation of school feeding program.
  3. Actively participate in the design, oversight, and monitoring of school meals activities including strengthening systems, structures, and services ensuring they are in line with WFP policy procedures.
  4. Prepare monthly distribution plans and verifying planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items
  5. Support efforts to address findings from monitoring visits as well as reviews and evaluations.
  6. Participating in school assessment and any other feeding mission if need arise.
  7. In collaboration with WFP logistics team, ensure liaison between the beneficiaries (school leaders, parent committees, pupil representatives) and the retailers.
  8. Provide progressive, periodic, and ad-hoc reports on the programme implementation.
  9. Follow up and process invoices.
  10. Participate in Education cluster coordination meetings organized through the cluster system and share situational updates with partners.
  11. Support integration of protection and gender perspectives in all areas of work, to ensure equal participation of women/men.
  12. Work closely with implementing partners and ensure that Cooperating Partner (CP) reports are received timely, reviewed and data captured into the COMET platform.
  13. Receive, register in tracking system and Process of Cooperating Partners Invoices, and ensure partners are paid timely.
  14. Provide weekly status updates on CP invoices received, registered, and processed for payment.

Skills and Qualifications

Do you meet the minimum requirements?

Education: Completion of secondary school education and A certified university degree in areas of social sciences, development studies, agriculture, nutrition, economics, or statistics.

Experience:

  • A minimum of Six years of working experience in food security, Nutrition, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience in implementation of plans and activities with NGOs, UN agencies or with governmental institutions.

Language: Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Somali.

Are you competent for this job? Do you have

  • Coordination skills: organize meetings, prepare and organize consultations at community, administrative and professional level
  • Planning skills: resources planning and management
  • Reporting skills: good report writing in UN working language (English)
  • Good communication skills: oral and written
  • Understanding the education system and context in Somalia
  • Basic computer skills and use of Microsoft packages such as word, excel and PowerPoint are essential
