Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Officer and overall supervision of the Head of Area Office the incumbent will undertake the following:

• Ensure adherence to WFP financial policies and regulations.
• Finalize Minimum Monthly Closure (MMC) and submit it on time.
• Monitor account balances and process financial transactions accurately and promptly.
• Handle monthly Journal Vouchers (JVs) for guesthouses, office spaces, and personal telephone bills.
• Gather and compile data from WFP databases for monthly financial reports.
• Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
• Analyze financial and statistical reports, providing recommendations.
• Contribute to budget preparation, implementation, and monitoring, ensuring funding requirements are met.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure efficient financial and administrative services.
• Create and verify payment lists using the Scope platform monthly.
• Monitor and analyze general ledger accounts, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Timely process payments to vendors, staff, and suppliers.
• Maintain and update the SCOPE Card Management System in the Area office and sub-offices.
• Be on standby and follow emergency preparedness practices for immediate response in the field.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related fields.

Experience: Six (6) years progressively responsible experience or more years of work experience, preferably in an international organization, embassy or UN system Has experience assessing financial health and stability of C&V projects and other programming initiatives to verify compliance with in-country local laws. Has experience working with auditors and other third-party vendors

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali language is a requirement.
