MUDRO operates emergency response programs in areas like WASH, nutrition, health, shelter, protection, and food security. They also assist internally displaced women and girls by providing access to safe spaces and case management.

Position overview

We are looking for an experienced and proactive ICT Officer to lead the development and support of our technology systems at MUDRO’s Dinsoor field office. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations across our humanitarian programs by providing reliable ICT infrastructure, user support, and digital capacity building.

You will support staff in remote and resource-limited settings by optimizing connectivity, safeguarding systems, and introducing user-friendly technologies that facilitate program delivery, data collection, and decision-making. By strengthening MUDRO’s digital backbone, you’ll help enhance the organization’s responsiveness in delivering lifesaving services such as nutrition, health, and protection interventions.

General Requirements

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of ICT systems, troubleshooting, and network administration.

  • Practical Experience: Proven experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining IT hardware and software.

  • User Support Skills: Ability to provide effective user support and train non-technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. ICT Infrastructure & User Support

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all office hardware (computers, printers, routers, etc.) and ensure timely repairs or replacements.

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to staff, resolving hardware/software issues with clear documentation of solutions.

  • Manage software installations, updates, and configurations tailored to program needs.

2.Network & Systems Administration

  • Monitor and optimize local area network (LAN) and internet connectivity to ensure reliable communication and data access.

  • Perform regular backups and system maintenance to prevent data loss and service disruption.

  • Implement and manage antivirus protections, firewalls, and system security settings.

3.Digital Tools & Program Support

  • Deploy and support digital data collection platforms (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK) for field surveys and reporting.

  • Ensure smooth functioning of data syncing between field devices and central systems.

  • Assist program teams with setting up mobile devices and ICT tools for humanitarian interventions.

4. Training & Capacity Building

  • Design and deliver training for staff on basic ICT functions, digital security practices, and the use of specialized software.

  • Develop user-friendly guides and help materials to build internal digital literacy.

5. Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Enforce data protection policies, monitor system access, and safeguard confidential information.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of ICT assets, software licenses, and user credentials.

  • Ensure ICT operations meet donor and organizational compliance standards.

6. Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to address technical requirements and upgrade opportunities.

  • Contribute ICT-related inputs to donor proposals and operational reports.

  • Prepare monthly performance reports, highlight incidents, and recommend improvements.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 3 years of ICT support experience in humanitarian or development settings.

  • Asset Management: Experience managing ICT assets, local area networks, and IT security protocols.

  • Familiarity: Knowledge of data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK) is an advantage.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English and Somali is preferred.
