| 1. Organizational Background |
HIDIG Relief and Development Organization (HRDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and impartial organization established in 2000 by Somali professionals from the diaspora. HIDIG operates across South-Central Somalia, focusing on improving the well-being of vulnerable communities, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs) and hard-to-reach populations in Southern Somalia. The organization implements programs in health, nutrition, education, protection, WASH, and livelihoods, with an emphasis on sustainability, local ownership, and emergency response.
| 2. Overall Job Purpose |
HIDIG is implementing the project “Provision of Essential Lifesaving Primary Health Services to Vulnerable Communities in Under-Served and Hard-to-Reach Areas” (Project Code: 36514) in Beledweyne district, Hiraan region. Funded by the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF), this project aims to reduce morbidity and mortality by improving access to primary healthcare in priority communities affected by drought, conflict, and displacement.
| 3. Position 1: HMIS/Data & Reporting Assistant (1 Position) |
The HMIS/Data & Reporting Assistant will support effective project data management and reporting across all health service delivery points. The role involves collecting and consolidating health data from fixed facilities and mobile teams, ensuring data quality, and supporting timely submission to HIDIG’s monitoring and evaluation framework.
| A. Key Responsibilities |
- Collect, verify, and compile service delivery data from health centers and mobile teams.
- Maintain and update project databases and health information systems (HMIS).
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data in reporting tools.
- Work closely with health facility staff to support timely and accurate data entry.
- Prepare weekly and monthly data summaries and submit to MEAL Officer and Project Officer.
- Support in analysis of health trends to inform programming.
- Assist in training and mentoring frontline staff on basic health data tools.
- Participate in joint supervision visits to monitor data quality.
| B. Required Qualifications |
- Diploma or Degree in Public Health, Monitoring & Evaluation, Health Information, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in HMIS or data management in health or humanitarian projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, DHIS2, and other relevant software.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Fluency in Somali; English is an asset.
| 4. Position 2: Community Health Worker (CHW) Supervisor (1 Position) |
The CHW Supervisor will oversee the activities of Community Health Workers across HIDIG’s operational areas. This role is central to strengthening community-level health services, including outreach, referrals, health education, and disease surveillance.
| A. Key Responsibilities |
- Supervise and monitor the daily activities of CHWs in health promotion and outreach.
- Conduct regular field visits to ensure effective service delivery by CHWs.
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentorship to CHWs.
- Review CHW reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Facilitate community-level health mobilization and awareness campaigns.
- Coordinate early detection of illnesses and ensure appropriate referrals to health centers.
- Report community trends and challenges to the Project Officer.
- Contribute to planning and adapting outreach strategies based on local needs.
| B. Required Qualifications |
- Diploma in Nursing, Public Health, Community Health, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience supervising or coordinating community health programs.
- Familiarity with Somalia’s primary healthcare and referral systems.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Somali; basic English is an advantage.
