Job Description: Food Security and Livelihoods Project Manager – Beledweyne

RDSA is looking for an experienced Food Security and Livelihoods Project Manager who will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing food security and improving livelihoods for vulnerable populations in Beletweyne. This role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring projects, ensuring eFective collaboration with stakeholders, and managing budgets. The candidate must possess strong project management skills, a deep understanding of food security issues, and the ability to build capacity within local communities. The candidate must have a strong background in project management, agriculture, and community development.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Planning and Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor project work plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements.
  • Budget Management: In collaboration with Finance team prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and compliance with funding regulations.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: In coordination with MEAL Officer establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project impact and effectiveness, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data.

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and sustainability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor project staff including project Officer, and Community Mobilizers fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
  • Capacity Building: conduct staff training needs and then organize training sessions and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members and community stakeholders.

Program Development

  • Needs Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify food security and livelihood needs of target populations, using participatory methodologies.
  • Program Design: Develop innovative and context-specific interventions to address identified needs, focusing on sustainable practices and resilience building.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Documentation: Prepare timely and accurate reports for donors and stakeholders, highlighting project progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor regulations, and local laws throughout project implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Development Studies, Food Security, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the food security and livelihoods sector.
  • Strong understanding of food security concepts, livelihoods programming, and community development principles.
  • Proven experience in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., MS Office, data analysis programs).
  • Ability to work in challenging environments and with diverse communities.
