Since January 2019, MSF is supporting the National Tuberculosis Program in Somaliland and started to work in Hargeisa TB Hospital, specifically in the Drug Resistance Tuberculosis centre and supporting 3 Regional Hospitals in Tuberculosis.

The aim is to reduce the morbidity, mortality and burden of TB and more specifically MDR-TB with below objectives:

  • To improve the quality of DR-TB diagnosis in MSF supported facilities (Hargeisa DR-TB hospital and Regional TB centres (Borama, Berbera and Burco)
  • To improve Infection Prevention and Control in Hargeisa TB hospital and the Regional TB centres supported by MSF (Borama, Berbera and Burco)
  • To improve MDR-TB patient care and treatment Outcomes of Hargeisa MDR-TB centre cohort
  • To increase DR-TB case finding using different models to increase access to TB screening and diagnosis

For MDR-TB project in Somaliland, MSF is looking for:

SUPERVISOR MEDICAL DATA ENTRY

Workplace                :       HARGEISA with frequent visits to MSF supported facilities in Borama, Berbera and Burco.

Type of contract       :       open ended

Start date                   :       1 April 2020(tentative)

Main purpose of the position

Ensure completion of all activities related to medical data entry and data management into the mission database. Mentor the activity of MoH Data Entry officers and MSF regional nurse supervisors, as well as identify their training needs in order to provide a good service support and reliability of the data collected.

Main responsibilities

  • Mentor the activity of MoH Data Entry officers and MSF regional nurse supervisors to have a reliable record of medical activity performed, as well as identify their training/technical support needs in order to provide a good service support and reliability of the data collected.
  • Ensure collation and entry of all data identified by project managers for collection (e.g. treatment outcome, morbidity, mortality, surveillance of diseases of epidemics, nutrition, psychosocial issues, etc.) into the appropriate data management system while ensuring quality of data
  • Know and ensure proper use of software used for recording (Bahmni).
  • Ensure accuracy of the medical data entered into the mission’s database on a regular basis, according to MSF protocols and carry out regular back-ups.
  • Provide technical support to data entry officers/operators in project sites and give response to their training needs.
  • Provide regular statistical reports for the medical team as well as informing the superior of any missing information, major changes or big differences in data

Requirements

Education Essential proven computer literacy, secondary education or qualifications either in administration, data entry or in statistics. Degree in Information and Technology (IT) desirable.
Experience Working experience with MSF or other international NGO.Previous experience in TB and/or HIV information management and/or experience with MoH HIS is an asset.
Languages Fluency in English and Somali is essential.
Knowledge Essential knowledge of use of computer including processing of documents (Word, Excel).Desirable knowledge on medical statistics data bases.
