Organization background
Wadajir Rural Development Organization (WARDO), WARDO is a civil society organization established in 2005 by group of Somali humanitarian and development workers who were dedicated and committed to social developments through education and youth development, agriculture and livelihoods, protection, emergency response and water and sanitation programs. WADAJIR Rural Development Organization (WARDO) is a registered and operational Non-Governmental Organization in South and Central Somalia, WARDO was registered in 2005 by the Federal Government of Somalia. The organization has its main office in Mogadishu and Baidoa, with regional offices in the other 4 FMS of South and Central Somalia (Jubaland, Galmudug, Southwest, and Hir-Shabelle).
Position Summary
The Protection / AAP & PSEA Officer will be a vital part of our Food Security and Livelihoods project. This role is responsible for implementing protection frameworks, ensuring community accountability, and establishing measures to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse among affected populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Protection Framework Implementation: Develop and execute protection strategies tailored to the unique needs of food-insecure and vulnerable communities.
- Incident Monitoring and Reporting: Collect data on protection incidents, ensuring timely reporting and response in alignment with organizational policies.
- Training and Awareness: Conduct workshops and training for staff, beneficiaries, and partners on AAP and PSEA standards and practices, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate community discussions to promote awareness of rights, protection options, and reporting mechanisms available to beneficiaries.
- Collaboration: Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to implement integrated protection approaches across food security and livelihoods initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and related fields in Human Rights, International Development, or a related field.
- Experience in protection roles, particularly within FSL projects, emphasizing AAP and PSEA.
- Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in diverse and high-pressure environments; knowledge of humanitarian standards and protocols.
- Languages: English and Somali
