Background
The Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organizations (SOYDAVO), is local, non-profit-making and non-governmental organization established in 2006 under the NGO Coordination Act of Somaliland. SOYDAVO’s headquarter is in Burao and with other regional and field offices in the regions of Sanaag and Maroodijeeh. SOYDAVO was established to improve the socio-economic conditions of the vulnerable and drought-affected populations in Somaliland.
SOYDAVO is engaged with multi-sector projects. SOYDAVO’s current programs focuses on improving the livelihood conditions of the drought-affected and IDP communities in the eastern regions of Somaliland, protecting and awareness trainings on FGM and Gender-based violence, and promoting culture for improved peace and cohesion among the communities.
SOYDAVO is one of the local strategic partners of the International Solidarity Foundation – ISF. SOYDAVO and ISF work together to promote gender equality and work towards the realization of zero tolerance of FGM/C and all forms of violence against women and girls. SOYDAVO’s new project focuses on building the local capacity of the community to eliminate GBV/FGM. SOYDAVO’s GBV programs focuses on improving the livelihoods of women and girls in Somaliland.
Job Summary
SOYDAVO is looking an experienced project manager who will be temporary recruited for a period of 4 months to cover a maternity leave. The project manager will be part of SOYDAVO’s protection team and will lead the implementations, design and reporting of the project activities aimed to improve the knowledge and capacity of the people in the areas of violence prevention and FGM.
Job responsibilities
The project manager will primarily responsible to
provide ongoing leadership, trainings, and guidance to staff and partner to ensure programming meets best practices, and prioritizes the security of beneficiaries & staff;
direct day-to-day activities and implementation of the project activities; Supervise, coordinate, monitor, evaluate all project activities. control and safeguard of all assets and materials of the project; facilitate linkage between local community and authorities.
prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual program reports of the project;
organizing, managing and chairing meetings the project staff;
manage the project budget in line with SOYDAVO policies and practices; ensure that all internal and donor reporting requirements are met;
contribute to project proposal writing, to identify and elaborate new intervention on the basis of SOYDAVO strategies and in collaboration with SOYDAVO Executive Director;
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Psychology, Social Sciences or any other related fields
- At least 4 years of progressive experience in project management especially, GBV and gender equality projects;
- Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential.
- Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly organized, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information.
- A high level of computer literacy required, including familiarity with data analysis software
- Candidates must possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form.
- A solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants,
