Organizational Background

GREDO is an indigenous local NGO. Non-profit non-partial, non- political and voluntary organization based in Baidoa. To reach the most affected grass-root communities in Bay and Bakool regions and lower Shebelle effectively and efficiently, the necessity of local partnership in relief program appeared. Responding to the partnership need, a group of Somali intellectuals and well-wishers initiated in December 1992 a local non-governmental organization called Gargaar Relief and Development Organization (GREDO) the organization has implemented during these period different projects including relief and emergency programs and later improved into rehabilitation and developmental programs.

Education Project Supervisor

  1. Job Summary

The overall responsibility of the Education Project Supervisor is to support Education Project Officer Activities with the Urban Program in the implementation of secondary, technical and vocational education, non-formal education and youth empowerment.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the personal and professional development of a trainee through the programme.
  • Develop a mutually accepted learning agreement. Undertake regular appraisals and feedback.
  • Working closely with the project Officer, ensure that all construction/rehabilitation works are in line with the designs and BOQs and are of high quality and meet the child friendly school criteria.
  • Lead all field work to conduct baseline study, school assessments, and other studies that the project might undertake in the course of the project life.
  • Oversee the overall implementation of teacher training for both secondary and primary schools of WWI in accordance with requirements stipulated in the project documents.
  • Provide technical assistance to REOs, DEOs, teachers and mentors through developing standards, monitoring/supervision tools, guidelines and trainings and other mechanisms to ensure quality of primary education.
  • Administrate teachers and school children’s attendance, discipline, performance, mobilization.
  • Assist in the mentorship, coaching and support to teachers in their day today work.
  • Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of activates.

Required Qualification

  • University diploma in social sciences or any other related field.
  • At least 2 years working experience with NGOs in Education

Person specification

  • Strong command of English
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good computer skills MS and Excel
  • An individual with initiatives and strong team work skills
  • Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.
  • Establish courses of action for self and others to ensure work completed efficiently and effectively.

Working Condition

The candidate will be based in Baidoa, but frequent travels to meet beneficiaries and field visits is required.
