SOS Children’s Villages Somalia has officially been working in Somalia since 1985. SOS is currently working in 135 countries worldwide. We are committed to the welfare of children – often throughout the whole of their childhood, and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect. We also run education and health facilities. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children’s Villages upholds child protection policy and our selection processes reflect our commitment to the protection of children and youth from abuse. Job Title: Registrar (1 Position)

Location: Hudur

Job Summary:

As the Registrar for Nutrition the employee is expected to carry out preparation for nutrition activities carried out at SOS Medical Centre Hudur. Additionally, s/he will be registering children under 5 years within the program. The employee will work under the guidance of the Nutrition Supervisor.

Direct Supervisor:  Nutrition Supervisor

Key Area of responsibility:

  • Check anthropometric measures, MUAC, and oedema and cases to appropriate structure.
  • Record properly all screening results and write daily, weekly, monthly reports.
  • Explain purpose of admission
  • Fill out and maintain the SFP/OTP register
  • Identify absentees or defaulters and inform the outreach workers
  • Organize home visit for absents to avoid them to default from the program.
  • Check at home the environment and provide advices to the caretaker: hygiene, health education
  • Assist to a feeding time to observe the child and caretaker in their environment and provide advices.
  • Receive the patients admitted, together with those accompanying them, and give them information on how the centre functions.
  • Record in the screening book all beneficiaries screened, and refer them to the appropriate structure using a referral ticket.
  • Register the admitted beneficiaries in the SFP/OTP registration book and check that all the procedures have been followed.
  • Prepare the monthly report on weight gain, length of stay, recovery rate, death rate, defaulter rate etc.
  • Update all the discharges in the registry and the follow-up book ;
  • Give the patient or the person accompanying him the treatment card, a food ration, and an appointment for the follow-up
  • To carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification & Experience

  • Should have certified documents on health and nutrition.
  • At least with 2 years clerical experience in humanitarian organization.
  • Strong knowledge on child rights and child protection.
