Who Are We?

Job Description: as a sociologists you will typically design research projects to test theories about social issues, collect data through surveys, observations, interviews, and other sources, analyze and draw conclusions from data, prepare reports, articles, or presentations detailing their research findings, and collaborate with and advise other social scientists, policymakers, or other groups on research findings and sociological issues

We are a construction company that deals with building and road construction activities in Somaliland regions. We are associated with many international partners in construction and engineering in general infrastructure development. We are committed to ensuring there is mainstreaming of health and safety of all those using or affected by this infrastructure development venture. The construction activities we deal with involve direct implementation of the construction process. We invite applications from highly qualified and capable individuals in construction activities in Somaliland region.

Duties& Responsibilities

• Study human interactive behavior, interaction, and organization as a worker perspective and stakeholder mapping
• Observe the activity of social, religious, political, and economic groups, organizations, and institutions.
• Examine the effect of social influences, including organizations and institutions, on different individuals and groups.
• They also trace the origin and growth of these groups and interactions with specificity on the impact of a new law, policy, or socio-economic activity, on a specific demographic.
• Use quantitative and qualitative methods in conducting research
• Help the administrators and other team members to solve social problems and formulate public policy on a wide range of social topics, including sensitization, public education, health, crime, poverty, gender, racial, and ethnic relations.
• Community and contractor mobilization and sensitization
• Building links with local service providers as necessary
• Base line study especially with regard to resilience, construction projects & climate change inclusion
• Carry out impact assessment of the project interventions in construction activities
• Work with the Public Health Specialist to produce appropriate IEC materials
• Reporting

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Sciences.
• Minimum 5 years relevant postgraduate experience.
• Experience in sensitizing communities for complex issues, community participation approaches, conducting socio-economic surveys and baseline studies.
• Experience in social impact or community participation relating to infrastructure projects in Somaliland / Horn of Africa
• Can speak and write fluently in English and Somali
