SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people. Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security. SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia (SOS CVE) together with our local partner OWDA will provide FSL, WASH and Health in Gode town, Kelafo, and Adadle woredas in the Shebele Zone -areas with deep food insecurity, where social and health services are mainly closed, and few other humanitarian actors are present. Focusing on the provision of food via vouchers, hygiene promotion and awareness, critical WASH infrastructure and health care services, the intervention will provide MHPSS (including treatment for SGBV victims) and improve the protection environment especially for children and women by mainstreaming protection across all activities. | We are looking for a Project MERA Officer who will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation system for the effective implementation of the Emergency Response Project.

| Your role…. |
| As a Project MERA Officer, you will be in charge of the following: |
- Supporting project colleagues in designing and implementing a comprehensive M&E plan for the project in line with the Results Based Management (RBM) Policy Support Document.
- Establishing monitoring and evaluation systems and processes using existing tools and mechanisms
- Supporting project colleagues in the process of developing M&E tools
- Conducting a rapid child protection impact and needs assessment
- Supporting the project team in planning and conducting reviews, as well as organizing reflection and learning meetings
- Initiating and leading joint supportive monitoring.
- Ensuring regular collection and capturing of beneficiary data into the Program Data Base (PDB).
- Designing and implementing strategies helpful in ensuring meaningful participation of children.
- Establishing Community based complaints and feedback mechanisms at community level
- Identifying, documenting and disseminating best practices, case studies, and learning briefs.
- Establishing and managing feedback-giving mechanisms.
Job Requirement
Up for the challenge…
Must have:
- BA/BSC Degree in Sociology, Economics, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, or other relevant field; )
- A minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in executing Monitoring and Evaluation activities
- Ability to speak Somali Language
- Oral and written fluency in English, and Amharic;
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
- Excellent understanding of computer applications
- Awareness on the child protection risks associated with COVID-19 and its secondary impacts, and how to mitigate those risks
- Demonstrated experience in learning and knowledge sharing related to child protection in emergency approaches
- Hands-on experience in developing/designing, and implementing monitoring and evaluating system/plan
- Knowledge on quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and its applications
- Demonstrated experience in consortium project interventions
- Have proven experience in monitoring and evaluation EU financed projects
- Have profound analytical and research skill.
- Excellent computer knowledge with command on MS Excel, database and SPSS among other packages
- Willing to undertake regular field visits and interact with different stakeholders, especially primary stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication, facilitation and writing skills
- Time management and ability to priorities multiple tasks, Self-motivated person and able to work without close supervision.
