Shaqodoon Organization is focused on sharpen its focus on innovation, piloting and scaling innovative interventions on youth employment, especially those that better connect supply-side with demand-side interventions and working very closely with the private sector. Shaqodoon Organization also strives to promote its intermediary online crowdfunding platforms to bring actors together to create impact.

Shaqodoon is hiring a Program Officer who will be responsible for the implementation of the business development, employment and innovation related programs of Shaqodoon Organization in Somaliland.

Position

Shaqodoon is looking for a qualified ‘Communication Officer – Intern’ who will support the communication department with the successful implementation of communication plans and guidelines. The intern will have the opportunity to gain certain skills and be part of the creation and distribution of communication materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Take part of the development and implementation of communication strategies for different projects that includes media outreach and social media content creation.
• Create and capture content for a variety of social media platforms including photos, videos and any other promotion materials.
• Organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences.
• Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the company’s policies, principles and strategies, and to keep up-to-date with relevant developments.
• Adhere to the company’s style guide, ensuring that we produce high-quality and error-free copy.
• Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.
• Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns with the team.
• Maintain the content calendar and ensure it is regular, relevant and up to date.
• Build and maintain relationships with local media, journalists, content creators, social media influencers and key external role-players.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in communications strategy development (essential).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Great attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
• Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.
• Content writing experience for all media platforms.
• Proven social media and networking expertise.
• Strategic and creative mindset.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• A portfolio of work available for review.
