Candlelight Background
Candlelight for Environment, Education & Health is a local NGO based in Somaliland which is dedicated to development and emergency issues in under-served and/or marginalized Somaliland communities. The core areas of interventions are livelihoods/natural resource management/income generation, education, health/Gender and humanitarian interventions. Candlelight is looking for to recruit one qualified and dynamic Project officer for the FGM interventions In Sanaag supported by European Union.
Responsibilities/duties
The main tasks and responsibilities of the project field officer will be the following:
- Responsible overall management and guidance project in the field level activities.
- Carry out a monthly and quarterly plan, and understanding of project objectives to reach target goals (SGBV, FGM, SHG, and human rights).
- Cooperate supporting and linking SHG to the cluster level associations.
- Maintain lobbing and advocacy campaigns linked to the Zero tolerance day and Somaliland Independence Day.
- Building a good relationship FGM/C and SGBV stakeholders at the regional and national level.
- Learning and exchange sessions on mainstreaming gender and human rights into sector policies and interventions
- Ensure proper controlling and supervising for daily workers in project field activities.
- Regular monitoring and evaluation of the project sites will be necessities.
- Collects information on and monitor project activities in the sites.
- Maintain quality control of project implementation levels.
- Ensure project activities to control actual plan of the project.
- Prepare regularly field trips reports and suggest appropriate action to be changed or improved.
- Active participation in the project implementation & represent in the absence of P. Mangers.
- Responsible request of procurement for necessary items required in the field.
- Meet local authority and communities elders to be fully aware of the situation and make adequate interventions to rectify any shortcomings.
- Assesses needs of the field and activities sites for programme planning and implementation, and provide recommendations.
- Organizing meetings and debates to clarify FGM Islamic point of view
- Preparing workshops and trainings relate to FGM Islamic point of view
- Collect and adopt any suitable resources and materials about the relationship between FGM and Islam.
- Take part in awareness raising sessions and campaigns
- Monthly reporting of religious activities of the project
- Conducting follow up of religious leaders trainees of the project
- Contributing Islamic point of views toward to Gender valiances of region
- Encourage preacher to include anti-FGM messages in their lectures
- Influencing Imams of the region to preach anti-FGM messages in their Jama’a addresses
- Perform any other duties as may be designated by the Project Manage
- Any other duties assigned by the project manager in any other Candlelight locations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree Islamic Sharia law.
- The Candidate must have Strong background of project Management skills and humanitarian interventions in Somaliland.
- Ability to analyses mass and complex information
- Analytical and good report writing skills
- Minimum of 3-4 years of work experience of Humanitarian work.
- Ability to work under short deadlines and efficiently handle multiple tasks.
- Demonstrate capacity to work in teams with colleagues.
- Excellent facilitation and problem solving skills
- Familiar with Project target communities
