Job Title: Scrub Nurse

Reporting to: Doctor-In Charge

Location: Baidoa

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The Scrub Nurse is responsible for overseeing the process of operation in the Theater room is smooth. He ensures that the theater has been cleaned before the trolley is set

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures that the theater has been cleaned before the trolley is set.
• Prepares the instrument and equipment needed in the operations.
• Uses sterile technique for scrubbing gowning and gloving
• Receives sterile equipment via circulatory nurses using sterile technique
• Performs initial sponges’ instruments and needle counts.
• Assists gowning and gloves to the surgeons.
• Assemble the drops according to the use.
• Place blade on the knife handle using needle holder, assembles suction tip and suction tubes.
• Prepares suture and needles according to use.
• maintains sterility throughout the procedure:
• Awareness of patients safety
• Arranges the instrument on the mayo table and on the back table.
• The count all sponges, instruments needles and other tools
• Save and care for tissue specimen accordingly.
• Removes excessive instrument from the sterile field.
• Adhere and maintain sterile technique watch for any breaks
• Under take count of sponges and instruments with circulating nurse.
• informs the surgeon of count result
• Clear away instruments and equipment.
• Removes all drops and gowns.
• Prepares the patients for recovery room.
• Completes documentations
• Handover to recovery room nurses.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor Degree of Nurse
• 1-2 years experience of Scrub nurse
