ABOUT THE CENTER

The Qaran Research and Training Center is a professional institution created to support research and quality practical trainings that improve the employability of the workforce in Somaliland and other resource-limited settings across the greater of Horn of Africa. We achieve this through designing and implementing innovative and well-informed trainings; ranging from M and E, Project management, HR and logistics and Research processes. We aspire to reduce high unemployment in the region through high quality mentoring, rigorous interventions and strong collaborations.

Currently, we are offering professional short courses which are great eye-opened opportunity for wide range of audience including NGO staff, government officials and unemployed persons and fresh graduates   willing to advance their sought-after skills or looking decent and deserved jobs..Around 400  trainees have already benefited from our previous various trainings both in class and online classes (about of these 20% females). Some of these former trainees have landed decent jobs at INGOs due to knowledge and skills gained from our trainings. Please see below the complete training outlines.

COURSE INTRODUCTION

English at work course is for people who are focused on taking their English communication skills to the next level. It is also for people who are interested in developing English language skills for employability and workplace contexts. It will help young professionals, private management staff, and government office staff with the English they need. Taking the time to concentrate on your English will open up unlimited opportunities for you. This course will enhance your English language skills in a manner specifically designed for the workplace

WHO WILL FACILITATE THE TRAINING?

 

The course facilitator is a double certified English instrutor. She has taken the IELTS Academic English test proficiency test and Duolingo English proficiency test. She is enthusiastic about learning English to communicate and chase opportunities outside Somaliland/Somalia. She attended December 2019 African Economic Conference happened Sharm-Elsheikh, Egypt. She is also the first Somali Anzishaprize fellow- South African organization that supports Africa’s youngest entrepreneurs. She will give you a concept about how English will open you unlimited opportunities both locally and outside. English is all about communicating effectively with your message and understandably expressing your ideas and thoughts.

This course is for people who are interested to take their English communication skills to the next level. It is also for people committed to boost their English language skills for employability and workplace contexts. It will help fresh graduates and young professionals with the English they need. It is a general training targeting a wide range of audiences like government office workers, Young professionals, fresh graduates, and private management staff.

THE TRAINING DURATION

This is two weeks-long training with 2 full hours of 100% online sessions for each day with following details: Course registration deadline is on   13th February 2021 and course training dates are between 13^th of February and 25^th of February 2021 for onine class.

*How to prepare for an interview

*Answering interview questions with examples

*Phone Interview

*Keeping things professional at work

Module 4: Presentation, pitching and extend your answers strategy

* How to prepare presentation

* Opening a presentation- Introducing yourself

*Make speech

* Making a pitch- Practical Class by presenting your presentation

 

Module5: Focus on fluency

* Every day English and extending your answers in various topics

*Talk about like and dislikes

*How to be chatty and talk about comparisons

* Conveying your ideas

 

COURSES APPLICATION PROCESS (ENTRY REQUIREMENTS)

2. We record video lectures of courses which are intended to online trainees in Somalia (Muqdisho, Garowe, Kismayo, Baido and many more others) plus live sessions throught zoom.
3. The offline class will be held in our Hargeisa Training Hall( North of -Hayat Diagnostic center, Near Idam School)
4. Pay the course fee which is only 15 dollars covering all training related costs
5. Training participants should take their laptop computers with them during training sessions

7. A group of three persons who will be attending a same course at time will have a discount of 10%.
